Hi all - I just joined and wanted to share about my lovely girls Shadow and Spring!

Shadow rescued me from the pandemic in June 2020 when I showed up at the humane society ready to adopt a dog. Luckily the dog was at foster and I was told they had only one friendly cat on site. Until recently I thought she was a British Shorthair American Tabby mix and about a month ago found out she is a manx, (longie). I had always wondered at not just her figure, (short and stocky on top of being a chonk) - but her amazing personality. I kept thinking I really did get a dog and now that I know she is a manx, it makes all the sense in the world! She really is the most relaxed accepting cat I have ever had and extrememly territorial in the yard as she has no issues running to whatever strange being is entering the yard and growling. She also doesn't like it if I'm out of her sight in the yard and will come running, (in the adorable manx way) as soon as I disappear.

Spring is a tuxedo who must be about a year now. In April 2021, my boss called me and asked me to bring food for a cat she had seen in the bushes at my office. It turned out to be a female tuxedo kitten who we think had been run over and dragged herself to the bushes. When I approached her, she couldn't move but despite her condition, (which we didn't know the extent of at the time) she was extremely happy to see someone come to her rescue and didn't even cry out in pain when I was able to pick her up and put her in the carrier. The vet called us back and explained she had two broken rear legs and suggested if I wanted to care for her, that he could splint her and it would take about two months for her to recover. I didn't have any experience with this type of situation but she had already won my heart so I agreed. By the way I actually envisioned that her recovery meant she would just lay quietly whlle healing and found out after a few days that was not the case. Despite everything, she was able to recover almost completely and now I have my hands full keeping her from all the mischief she likes to make:).

They are definitely not friends but tolerate each other, and from what I have been told, they do really well for unbonded cats.
