My two were brought up on Fancy Feast classic pate ,my vet was pleased with their growth and weight gain. My personal philosophy is the best food is the one your cat will eat without pulling your hair out in frustration.
I personally recommend having a bit dry food on their daily diet even if it's just 15-20 % of their intake. Both because a lot of cats feel more comfortable and food-safe if they see food at all times, but also it's easier to have them use to both wet and dry food in case of emergencies and to have more variety in food options if they get bored of a flavor, etc
If the dry food is good, any wet food that does NOT cause a problem like gas/loose stools/regurgitation, etc should be fine. They will still get additional ingredients from their dry food - like Acana/Orijen have some supplement ingredients, probiotics, etc in addition to high animal content.
