I think the eye doctor gave you a hair cut. I'm pretty sure you had much longer hair in older pictures. :p
Wow, that's some eye doctor! I am going to mine real soon--- so I can't wait. Rest those eyes Jcatbird Jcatbird that's very important. Hope that all is well with you and all the kitties at Chez Catbird. :heartshape:

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 The butterflies are Hekitty approved? Okay then. They say you are what you eat so hold on to Hekitty! Either flying or buttery. ;)

I saw something about the original cheezburger memes being on auction. Wowsa! Big prices. Part of the proceeds going to charities. I have to say that I like Monorail Cat. Lol

N NY cat man You have bees? That is fantastic. Bees have been struggling so that is a very good thing! Maybe the butterflies give them preference?
I only have a few butterflies here too. The Swallowtails mostly. Some neat moth varieties too though. I have a lot of the Sulpher butterflies They seem to like the red morning glories. If you have milkweed then you have Monarch food. Aphids?!?!? Ugh. I believe that Lady bugs love munching on those. I always love seeing them in the garden. Guardians of the garden. It seems like each season brings a little something different. Have you got a puddle watering place for the butterflies? A shallow dish with pebbles and a little water can work. I just run the hose in a dish with the sand of my yard. I keep the water fresh every few days. Maybe you do need a welcome mat for butterflies. The cat footprint in the step works for cats here. You could try that with the butterflies but I don’t know how you would get a butterfly to put his footprint in cement.

tabbytom tabbytom You are so right. Butterflies and caterpillars need specific plants in each stage. I was surprised recently to learn that Sweet Gum trees are part of the Luna Moth food cycle when they are caterpillars. They don’t eat when they are in the moth stage.

rubysmama rubysmama Maybe you and others would enjoy following the MJV . Monarch Joint Venture. It’s an attempt to join people everywhere to preserve Monarchs. It’s some pretty neat reading. Monarch Conservation Resources | The Monarch Joint Venture
tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 ^^ You should enjoy the MJV too. The US feds put this out and it is extremely informative. I did not know that there are plants that fool Monarchs into laying eggs on them! There are favorite milkweeds too. Monarch Butterfly Habitat Needs

I am loving the Icanhazcheezburger cats! I have seen some of this over the years but never knew there was a “site.” I can see why you are a devotee. From battling to save cats to you finding a healing smile? Yes. This is a needed resource for happy.
Speaking of happy…. Such a cute kitty in your post! Peek a boo!’lol
Yes! New eyeliner! I must say though that I was worried the new medicine might make me grow ….. shhh……. Whiskers! Thank goodness that didn’t happen!:catman:I will be taking it easy. It’s hard to type when I keep having an urge to chase everything on the screen that moves. Anyone got a mouse?

Lari Lari  That’s what the doctor did! I knew something looked a little different! I used to be a domestic long hair!

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose Oh yes! Everyone should have a specialist like mine. I hope your eye doctor can give you a view through cat colored glasses too. If the world could see what we see, all would be well for sure! :cloud9::heartshape:

Yes, specific plants with delicious leaves.

I'm not sure if salt solution will attract butterflies, but I know they take in salt and minerals from very shallow puddles of water on the grounded I did took a photo of one doing just that I remember once I visited a butterfly park and it was humid, I had butterflies not in my stomach but butterflies landing on my hand as I was perspiring.

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 Dear little Topper! He reminds me a lot of Whistle and Prints. I hope he gets adopted very soon.

tabbytom tabbytom The butterflies do like to taste us! Lol I’m glad you hand them on your hand instead of in your tummy! I’m spite of Hekitty saying they taste good, I don’t think I would enjoy butterflies in my stomach. I think I would feel a bit flighty. Lol

Love butterflies -- I have since forever! I still have some of my childhood books on butterflies and moths. And I won't allow any kind of insecticide in my yard, even if it does sometimes create a problem (like now, when we're battling ants. I do have some ant spray and I've had to use it outside by the back door. But that's it.) and I am not constantly pulling weeds because some of them are visited by butterflies. We have bees here, too! I always love seeing them buzzing around. As to butterflies, we have tiger swallowtails, mourning cloaks, cabbage whites (and the yellow variety) and painted ladies, plus some small skippers. I always love seeing them.
ICanHasCheezburger is still someplace I visit daily, though I loved its original silliness more. Happy Cat, Dr. Tinycat, and LOLrus, especially! Did the site get sold, does anyone know? I think Ben Huh was the original owner/CEO.
We definitely need to get you a mouse! attached to a nice desktop. Hope you are feeling okay and not getting the migraines.

Oh yes, we have bees, both honeybees and bumblebees. When all the flowers- and especially when the white clover that dominates our yard- are in bloom, we have scads of them buzzing around, going about their business. They don't seem to bother anyone, at least not me, so I don't bother them. I would, however, love to know where they have their hive, just for curiosity's sake.

When we moved here, there was a mega-hive in our outdoor ductwork and I spent hours online and calling to try to get humane removal. No one was offering that -- anyone would have killed them and charged me for it. So I did nothing. Eventually they left, for unknown reasons. They didn't bother anyone but I was wary of the colony, which was basically close to the back door. Fortunately, they didn't ever come close to it. There were paper wasp nests in front, too, which my gardener at the time was scared of; I told him to leave them and their nests alone and when they were done with them, I would remove them, which I did. People are so weird about insects! Many insects are so beneficial and they are all part of nature. Very glad I wasn't raised to be scared of and violent to them. My mom was terrified of bees, and would run from them, even/especially the big shiny black bumblers who wouldn't have harmed her. I always told her not to run but that didn't stop her. Now, I see the little honeybees, and I haven't seen bumblebees for a long time. It's sad.

rubysmama rubysmama I’m so glad you get a smile from the posts. We have such fun conversations here and the Clowder looks forward to each time we get to visit. :lovecat3:

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Butterflies are so amazing. I love watching them too. When I was little I imagined they flew down from rainbows. Lol That was before I knew about the cycle that includes caterpillars. I try to avoid all toxins too. I love most bugs. I try to lead the ants to other places when I can.
From what I read, the cheezburger site got sold. Now the original meme artist is selling some of the classic pieces. I didn’t read a lot about it but I saw lots of ideas that branched off the original ideas. Lots of cute stuff. When I can, I hope to read more.
Migraines? Some. Not up to my usual self yet but working on it. Thank you.:hugs:
Whistle Runnnnnnnnnnn! Lolololololololol He was brave.

N NY cat man I haven’t seen as many bees here this year. We have Carpenter bees and a few Bumble bees but I haven’t seen and Honey bees this season. I love the big Bumbles. I don’t know how you would find the hive there. For yellow jackets I can usually follow them but I don’t get too close. They got me good last year. Maybe you could recruit Winnie the Pooh? I’m sure there is some lovely honey somewhere nearby.

Laundry day! The cats took over for me. What would I do without them?

The clean team! Banjo fluffs, Whistle folds.

Banjo made me do all the folding. She says she is better at the other part. Whew! Exhausting!!

You would think that we have bunches of butterflies around our garden, given that we put in plants with an eye to attracting them, but such is not the case.
OK, try this. Find a decent sized flat stone, about 16-18" in diameter. Place it in the garden near the plants. Open a bottle of beer, and leave it on the counter to go stale. Next day, pour it over the rock. Butterflies feel about beer the way frat boys do. If you pour it, they will come. In fact, those "antennae" may actually be tiny can holders...built in beer bongs.

Now the original meme artist is selling some of the classic pieces.
There wasn't ever, that I know of, an actual "original artist." A group started the site, but it was immediately allowing others who came there to make and post memes. It was a community effort. These are a few of mine:

Oh, Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 ROFLMOTO! I don't have alcohol. My roomie's husband drinks it, though, so maybe I should ask him if he'd contribute a little to the effort? I don't want to miss the butterfly frat party! *Hoping they won't make a zipline like in "The Social Network"!*
tabbytom tabbytom What a gorgeous shot! Amazing butterfly. I haven't seen that one before. What kind is it, do you know?
Jcatbird Jcatbird That is indeed fluffed to PURRfection! With helpers like those, you can sit back and relax, yes? ;)

In this part of the country, it's kind of late in the season to be attracting butterflies, since most of the flowers are done blooming. Too, there hasn't been any beer in the house in years so there is that. Maybe next year I can try that, if I can keep the slugs and ants at bay.
