Jcatbird Jcatbird , that’s the best news regarding your dad! What a relief for you just to hear his voice:heartshape:

This is my orange Boy. He’ll be 11 in March/ April. My daughters rescued him from the street, actually a park, when he was about 8 or 9 weeks old. He was filthy, full of fleas and feisty but curious, and so easy to fall in love with him. He was wild but friendly. He’s not usually friendly toward strangers unless they truly speak cat. Usually he hides unless I call him out. He’s been known to smack people but with us he’s the biggest cuddle bug ever, and my velcro cat, lol.

Pawpurrs' "adopting human"? But Pawpurr is at Chez Catbird, right?
I'll reply to this, since I know the answer.

Pawpurr showed up at Chez Catbird very shortly after Prints, hence the name the Prints and the Pawpurr. However, even though Chez Catbird would never turn away a homeless kitty, there really wasn't room at the inn for him. As it happened, Jcatbird Jcatbird 's neighbour was feeling a bit lonely, and it was decided a feline friend would help lift his spirits, so he adopted Pawpurr, with the understanding that Mama Catbird would assist with things. So she visits Pawpurr, and his adopting human often. And we get regular updates on Pawpurr.

I am in SO MUCH TROUBLE! I patted Scamper, and failed to wash my tomcatty hands when I came in! I AM BEING SHUNNED!
My dog from years ago had a jealous streak where if I petted another dog, he pick up on the scent and start growling me as if to say "How dare you!!! You cheated on me with another dog!" Then he would ignore me for awhile. I had to make sure that I got a dog scent off of me before I approach him. He was a very jealous dog. My sister had a cat that behaved in a similar manner.

Awwwhhh! Your kitty loves you, and doesn't want to share you with other kitties. 😻😻😻

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 My Dad has my brother and nephew living with him right now. My Sister in law is staying there during the week as well and she is a PA. This is preferable right now. Home health care is how my Dad and step mom got Covid. Sadly, all the health care workers caught it.
My Dad is coping. It was good to hear his voice but also very sad. The loss of my step mom is hard. They were together over 50 years. He still needs to focus on his recovery as well. It’s going to take time. Thank you for asking. It’s a daily struggle right now but he has come a very long way.

rubysmama rubysmama You may not use the word fabulous but you ARE fabulous!
It is fabulous news about my Dad! I love the fabulous cat too!

BellaGooch BellaGooch Yes, over 80 kitties of all ages. Ferals of any age can be socialized if they want to be. It did take a little time though. Lol I wouldn’t trade a moment of it though. Each kitty was fabulous! I was very fortunate to find great humans to love and adopt. I am so very grateful to each one for adopting. I could not have done the rescues without them.

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose Thank you about my Dad! I am so relieved to have him back at his home!
I have had help here on the site with locating possible fosters. There is strength in numbers. Together we can do so much more. The support here is invaluable. Thank you for “Blessing my heart.” I am the really lucky one. So many precious lives have touched mine!

@Lari Well said! Lol They know they are fabulous! They also make sure that we know.

@NY cat man You haven’t met one either?! If a cat does not know about being fabulous, I would certainly be the first to tell them!’

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Elvis knows. With a name like Elvis, he must be king!! He definitely looks regal and fabulous!

@Mamanyt1953 Ohhh! You were a bad human! You touched a smelly Tom! How dare you? You must beg for forgiveness from the great lady of the house! Many treats must be offered with a humble apology!:worship: Better to be shunned than swatted!;) Luckily for us humans, cats are very kind and forgiving. Love conquers all.

Jewely Jewely Your orange boy is so gorgeous!! Looking at him now, no one would ever know how he started out his life. He is so beautiful and looks so happy! He is a very lucky boy to have come to you. I do love ginger kitties. They always have such pretty eyes too. He looks so young! Eleven? Healthy boy! I’m so glad your daughters found him. Rescues understand who speaks cat. Thank you for sharing the photo! He joins some other sweet gingers here.
Thank you about my Dad. I was so relieved to hear his voice. It was very difficult waiting to talk to him again. I am very grateful.
I hope your dad makes a full recovery and he is able to cope with the loss of his wife. I am still 🙏🙏🙏.

So happy you are getting foster help with the kitties. In the Spring, I will have to look for help with the outdoor kitties. A lot of changes going on and I don't know if I will be still around to feed. I can't leave without making sure these cats are safe. We are living in precarious times.

Well, all the best to you, your family and the Clowder. 🤗🤗🤗

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Pawpurr is adopted by my elderly neighbor. He actually lives at the edge of my land so technically Pawpurr is still here. She watches me each day from her window. Lol This is convenient because I was able to supply the needed items in the first days and to confirm this was a successful adoption. The gentleman is dedicated to Pawpurr. He lives alone and is rather restricted in lifestyle so Pawpurr has been a great addition to his life and he to hers. Keeping up with changes around here is not the easiest thing to do! Lol
I hope your system holds up!

Dolly loves that guy. Lol Brusging is a huge lure for Dolly. Lol Mackie too but he melts. Dolly gets excited and won’t stop head butting.

My Dad has not discussed his wife much but has made some mention. It’s a tender subject. With my daughter, I have actually pretty freely discussed her life with others, mostly locally. She was well known and an inspiration for many. She was an example to many of how to live a happy life , even with disabilities. Her photo toured nation wide to raise awareness and benefit the fight for the rights of disabled Americans of all ages. I don’t discuss it a lot here just because this is the place we fight for the rights of kitties but Sarah would totally support every kitty. She was a kitty magnet and a bird girl. A bright light to all who crossed her path. She grew love and smiles for a living. :):cloud9::redheartpump:

pearl99 pearl99 Ziggy is a brush lover too? I love brushing the kitties. Most here enjoy it but Dolly never wants it to stop. I warned the neighbor that Dolly would be persistent. Lol Purrs in the ear, head butts, little kisses and finally, constant chatter to ask for more! It feels so good! Ziggy is a charmer. Asking for brushing with sweet kitty looks!

Jewely Jewely We all agree, such a gorgeous purr baby!

rubysmama rubysmama Ah! I could have saved typing! Purrfectly explained! Thank you. Pawpurr is a very happy kitty now and is looking like she owns the world! Oh. She does.

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose Out fur babies do tend to be territorial but as you stated, it shows there love and protective spirit.;)
We do love in changing times. I have been through so many changes in my lifetime, I look back in amazement that everything settled okay in time. Things seem to go in cycles. Down, around and back up. There were days when I would like to have left this place but I held on. It’s a place I cherish and I am glad that I have had these years here. Things did settle again. Now we are in another round of changes. I know it’s hard to wait things out but there will be answers. A shift may be needed but you have the support of everyone here. You are never alone as the world evolves around you. We are all spinning on this earth together. :hugs:

Lady, like every cat in the clowder, fits her name perfectly. Her skirt on her harness is just too cute!
What pretty woods! Did you actually see an armadillo? So cool! (I guess a bit dangerous, but still cool!) We definitely don't have armadilloes in CA, nor do we have woods like that... At least not where I'm at. :) I don't blame Lady for wanting to explore! Can't wait to see what tomorrow's story brings!
P.S. Tell Lady and everyone in the clowder hello, and give them a pet for me! :redheartpump::hugs:

BellaGooch BellaGooch I only caught a glimpse of an armadillo this time. They come out when it’s warm to eat but they were in tall brush. I have pictures that I have taken of them in the yard though. They have fairly poor vision and tend to come very close if I am still. The danger with them is mostly if you scare them while standing over them. They shoot straight up in the air like a cat but do it with those hard shells and enough force to break your jaw. They are very timid hard shelled “bunnies”, lol. The other danger comes from eating one that isn’t well cooked. I would not eat one anyway! The raw meat can carry leprosy. Just don’t scare them or eat them and you should be fine. I think these may be what made Whistle frightened of big ears though. They dig like crazy for bugs and snuggle around all over. That would be scary to a kitten. The armadillos have come up and checked me out up close. They found me to be rather uninteresting. Lol The one in North America almost always has genetically identical quadruplets. The egg splits into four and mom has four babies which nurse like kittens. They are often called turtle bunnies. Lol Here is an adorable baby rescue.
Here are two that live here.

hard surface floors don't like vacuums for the most part. Better to use a mop on them
I used the canister vac on it for many years with no problems. When we switched to an upright vacuum, it was a disaster. :headshake:

Possibly the pieces could be re glued?
Too late! They broke into a billion pieces and got sucked up the vacuum. :ohwell:

We do love in changing times.
Typo or Freudian slip again? It sure is challenging to live & love in these hard times. ;)

We can go now. I don’t know that armadillo personally.
Hee hee. Oh Lady, you're so funny.

I've said it before, but Lady is just so beautiful.
Don't even think about it. Hands off. Lady is my kitty. :nono:

pearl99 pearl99 Yes 80 in this last colony. There was a colony before them. I’ve been rescuing all sorts of critters my whole life. When I retired, I had been planning to move and maybe travel a little bit then, I saw kitties. Lol I prefer kitties to travel any day. I have health issues too but there are many ways to be a help with rescues. Being supportive on this site is a HUGE help to anyone working with kitties. Some days are really hard and kind words to help people through the night can make all the difference. I know this thread is really long but many of the days I posted here were tough ones for me. The things people said to me helped to keep me going and keep more kitties coming in. The night I finally got BJ was kind of funny but also a bit nerve wracking right at first. It was late at night and I had my phone so I started writing here. I didn’t expect anyone to be on and respond but, I did get replies! I was very glad for the company at that particular time! It helped me make it through. If you want to be a rescuer, there are lots of ways to help. TCS is a good place to do it too. I still find myself needing support. If you are interested in the night of BJ, here is the link to that section of the thread. You might want to go back a bit to see the days that led to this. His story is pretty amazing. He was the guardian of the entire colony and refused to be caught until all the others were safe. He risked his own safety for the other kitties and even guarded me at times. His story later is pretty amazing too. He ended up with his own thread for a while as he battled Heart worms. He is a true survivor. A real hero. My Feral And Rescued Cats
BJ sounds like an amazing kitty. When I have more time I will have to go back and read the whole thread. I live in assisted living and I am in a wheel chair so I can't do any rescue work. If I ever get out of here I was thinking I could foster a few cats if someone would take me to the vet if needed. I don't drive and I would not be able to get a cat in a carrier by myself.

There is a lady that works here that does cat rescue. I have not met her yet but I plan to if I can even catch up with her. I would love to hear her stories and make a donation toward her rescue group.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful Lady on her intrepid journeyings, all of the birds, and the amazing armadillos! Lovely!
Yes, I can well imagine Sarah as an ambassador -- very photogenic and her soul shined from her eyes! -- and as a cat and bird lover. We can all learn a lot from her inspirational example. IQ is important but IMHO, equally important are compassion, kindness and gentleness (qualities a lot of high-IQ people possess, BTW). If you don't have those, don't bother me!
Yes, we do love in strange times. It's the loving that gets us through, I truly believe.
Your thoughts on being here or not echo mine so much. I've never been a depressed person, but like everyone, I've certainly had uncertainty and pain and sadness; but I feel as though, as long as I have work to do here, I want to do that work. I put myself in 100% Care of my Beloved Creator and know that as long as I am here, I am meant to be here.

BellaGooch BellaGooch Ahh! Cats seem to know a lot about faith and patience. Just watch a kitty trying to get a toy behind a cabinet or to fit into a box that isn’t really very large. They have the patience to continue to reach for the toy and the faith that they can fit into that box.

@JamesCalifornia How wonderful to see you here! Thank you so much for the kind encouragement.:blush:How could I ever resist any kitty? They are my inspiration each day. If there are angel wings around here, they come with pointy ears, whiskers and a smile. They lift me up.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Banjo did know! I watched her all day and somehow she knew her Prince would come. Froggie is still there beside her today.
We’ll all try to have a little faith that your system contours to last. Longer that eight years. Anything is possible. Hoping!:vibes::geekcat: Big Blue lap tops may add special purrsistent abilities to a system.

M maggiedemi You use a nearly dry mop on laminate. You can’t wear stiletto heels ( not that I would. Lol) , use a vacuum with a beater bar, must wipe spills immediately, basically..... take great care with those surfaces. A traditional wood floor can be refinished but laminate must be protected. The flooring is supposed to be great but I know that , around here, they would have claw marks or hairball stains. Lol That’s why I didn’t want to risk it.
Definitely a joke cake. I believe in asking for justice but not for revenge. I always prefer to get laughter. Even if there is an , Ewwwww! attached. Lol

Yea. I had a brother in the house when I was growing up. Talk about Ewwww! Lol

I’m sure that Banjo knew that Froggie would return. I don’t know how she knew when but she seemed to know. I guess that bond is a very special one. Perhaps they have a secret signal?
@NY cat man Exactly!! Water ruins laminate and can warp wood. I read that a vinegar solution can work but dust mops or , as tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 mentuoned, the Swiffer is supposed to be okay. I have seen the Pergo floors too. I didn’t price it though. I have seen bamboo flooring too. That might be tough enough to resist scratching? Fairly Renewable resource. We had heart of pine floor growing up. Actually, by the time we had the house it was more like fat lighter! Lol it was really tough with our animals. Even when the pony slipped in the house, no hoof marks. For urgent cleaning, a damp cloth and pine oil is what mother used. For some reason, mother always objected when the pony came inside.:dunno:
I had the measles one Christmas so dad wrapped each hoof in canvas and brought my Welsh pony Dusty inside. We had photos of us in front of the Christmas tree but they are long gone.:sigh::sniffle::cringe::headshake:

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Pawpurr is adopted by my elderly neighbor.

:hugs:
I didn't answer your kind thought about my system. The new one arrived only 2 days after I ordered it. I plan to do setup tomorrow or CATurday. I opened the box and looked at the instructions. They are very good. I was concerned that I might have to buy some cables but they are included. Also included is a WiFi antenna, a mouse and a keyboard. It's a business system rather than a gaming rig -- I really don't have time to game these days, so I figured this might be a good choice for a workhorse like myself. It's a small form factor system, too, which is really nice. Nothing fancy looks-wise, but very nice and will take up less space. The keyboard is the standard type, but that's what I have now. Not very ergonomic, but I'm used to it. Mouse looks good. Haven't taken the tower out to see if there's an optical drive or not, but again, I don't use one very much anyway, so it's not vital; and there is a port for it in case.

rubysmama rubysmama Yes. As far as I know. She turned up a few times before I spotted her with her kittens but I never could get close to her until I got her released from imprisonment under that house. She and her babies came right to me then and followed me home like a little row of ducklings. Lol It’s possible she had been with a human before but her babies never had. Whatever her history, she is a total Lady now. Purrfect manners. Lol

Isn’t that baby armadillo cute? I watch for babies here but haven’t seen any. They have a lot of places to feed and hide but maybe one day I will see one.

M maggiedemi Typo or Freudian slip? Either way, it works. It is tough to love in these times but also, it’s of utmost importance that we remember to love now. Small kindnesses and loving words can make hard days better when we least expect it.
Lady already thinks owns you. Lol You do realize that?

muffy muffy It will take time to read this whole thread but BJ is an amazing cat. You know, rescuing cats is not just about physically taking in a kitty. It is also giving encouragement to those who are doing the hands on work. You could be so much help in the rescue front by handing out pats in the back, “Don’t give up”, “Hang in there”, “ Sending purrs and love”, to help keep up the spirits of those trying to catch or care for kitties. That went a long way to help me to keep going. More cats were saved because others who cared kept talking to me. It was an important part of the process. If you can meet that rescuer there, just kind words and telling the person how much we all appreciate what they do, will make the day easier and better for them. You become a part of the chain of strength.
Thank you for caring so much that you want to rescue too!! You also make our world a better and brighter place. :hugs::goldstar::sunshine::rock:

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Indeed. Compassion, kindness, love, empathy and all the things that go with those traits are the things that keep our world a good place. If we have those things, we have what counts most. I think those things instill survival of ourselves and preservation of other life. We all have a purpose. If we don’t know what that is, we simply need to move forward doing any good thing we can. That is a purpose. Hard times teach us appreciation for all things good or beautiful. There is a relief felt when we emerge from something difficult to the other side that brings the best feelings. I also believe that as long as we are here, we have a very good reason for being here and must try to make the most of anything we are given. The laughter from Sarah still rings in my ears. I find myself smiling when I think of it. I make the most of that and try to honor it by keeping it going. Every bird I see makes me remember the love she had for birds and the freedom of the spirit she exemplified even though she was within a body that could not physically fly free. Each snuggling kitty reminds me of how she gave such comfort to every kitty without being able to bend down and lift them up. They came to her of their own accord. It’s what we carry inside that truly matters. Somehow, the Universe knows. Like Froggie and Banjo, in tune to the spirit that shows through.
You got your new system already? That was fast! It sounds like it has everything you will need to continue the good work that you do. You are here to do this work and the Universe smiled upon you by sending what you need so quickly. Meant to be. :redheartpump:

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 That is the sweetest story! Brought Dust inside for you! I know you must have been so happy and comforted to have her inside!! No photos? No matter. It is ingrained in your mind forever. Of course we would like to have seen that but I can imagine you and Dusty in front of a Christmas tree and it made me laugh. Did she think the ornaments were shiny apples? Lol She was a Welsh pony? Shady was too. Her full name was Shadowfax but she had such a way of getting into things, she became Shady Lady. Lol She kind of reminds me of the purr sonality that Banjo exhibits. A very smart girl with a sense of humor but a gentle and kind heart. She was always snuggling the kitties and the bunnies. I could swear that pony knew how to laugh too! Whinnihhahahahaha!

Lady was the kitty trapped in the basement !!! I remember you telling us that story, but had forgotten who the cat was. So glad you were persistent! :petcat::hearthrob::hearthrob:
