Tell Callie that I said she has a CUTE BUTT! I love cat fannies. They're just so...CAT!

In other news, a couple of days ago, Scamper showed up with half a shoe lace hanging from his fanny! Panick time! However, he was eating well, and since I can't pick him up, there wasn't much I could do. Last night, he came running up to me for pets and (OF COURSE) food, no string! It was a case of "This, too, shall pass!" I'm more than relieved. Little Nieto is getting more brave about approaching. We're up to the 5 foot mark now, although he heads for the hills if I move! Austin still watches over him, and he's made friends with AJ (Austin Jr, looks just like Austin, but shorthaired) and Scamper, so he isn't lonely anymore!

tabbytom tabbytom I’m glad you were able to find the song. Callie says she hopes you dance. :lovecat3:
The kitties really do show how much they are grateful to be safe and they more than return any little thing we do. The amount of love they give is immeasurable. Laughter is an added bonus. Callie is a wonderful kitty. She is responsible for several kitties learning to trust and and for some getting adopted. She helped to socialize Duster, Greybird, Tortuga, Alley, Liberty and Wanda Heart. I don’t know if it would have happened for a couple of them without her help.

M maggiedemi you and Callie have a lot in common! You both love music and both have the ability to look at things from another angle. ;) I think you both love rainbows too!

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Callie says to tell you ,”Thank you!” She does have a happy cat butt. Lol

Aaaaaaaaa! Scamper was trailing a shoelace?!?! I know you were worried! I’m so glad that it passed. Cats do tend to eat stringy things. I suppose Scamper thought it was a tasty worm or snake. He probably felt he was protecting everyone by killing and devouring the invader. Thank goodness he showed you that he had passed it. They certainly can make us worry.
Nieto is a smart one. It’s wonderful how others in the colony look out for him. I know I say this a lot but.... Cats are amazing. I never cease to be impressed and am constantly in awe. Thanks go to Austin and AJ for being there when Nieto needed them. I hope Nieto will come closer.

Today was a day for grooming. A verrrrrry long day! Lol I didn’t get to everyone but I made it through the majority. I stopped with Smokey. She always takes the longest of all the cats. She has a very fine undercoat and she is the only one that ever gets any mats. I have been trying to get a mat off of her chest for days! It was right between her front legs and she really didn’t want me working there. As she has gotten older, she is more difficult when I work on removing a mat. She likes to nibble on my hand as I brush and she thinks she is returning the favor by grooming my hand. Thank you Smokey! My fingers are very well groomed now. I got the mat and did some brushing. When her patience ran out, we stopped for tonight. I had hoped to give her a bath but since we did that recently, she did not agree with doing it again. Hopefully I combed out any fur that got clipped so she won’t lick it off and present me with a hairball later. It’s really something to see that little fluff in action when she sees water! She instantly grows twenty paws and they are all armed with machetes!

Leave my mat alone! I am saving that to chew on!

If I keep laying on it, you can’t get it!

Unh. I think I feel a hand working on my mat.

Rats. I have to admit it. I feel better without the mat.

Have a great night everyone.:heartshape::petcat:

I have 2 left feet so I dance using my paws

Great to hear that Callie is a responsible caring kitty and got the house in order. :salute:

M maggiedemi I forgot to answer you about Jazzy. She ended up getting adopted. I’ll do a post with her story for you tomorrow. She had lots of cute babies and I caught them before I finally caught her. She was an expert at being a feral. She also became an expert at being petted and loved by humans.

Machetes! That's a good word for it. My cats love to knife me with their machetes. They are getting really good about listening to me though, so I don't have to pick them up as often. They hate being picked up.

Am I the bestest kitty?
Awww, all kitties are the bestest. ❤

M maggiedemi Machetes is right! Lol I was doing some very delicate work on Smokey last night and all the kitties wanted to help. Smokey is having a little problem right now and the kitties had to get involved. Flowers landed, all fours extended with machete grips, right on my stomach. Just as she landed she changed her mind and bounced. The momentum of my , apparently rubber, tummy sent her clear over the coffee table. I have paw prints.:greenpaw::bluepaw: I guess even rubber can get dents from Flower stems.

All kitties are the bestest.

The tail of Jazzy. Loving Mother of many and feral supreme. Lol This is a story of a cat family tree. It shows just how quickly a single female can add to a colony. Jazzy first showed up some years back. I only caught a glimpse of her with some kittens and then they were gone. I later saw one reappear as an older kitten, Thrasher. Later Jazzy made a second visit with another couple of kittens. Goldie and Flowers. One more appearance by Jazzy deposited Callie and Kelly. A hurricane arrived and Kelly nearly drowned as a kitten. I managed to save her but she took off and was not seen again for a year. Callie reappeared a while later without her mother and I was able to catch her. Jazzy vanished completely when another set of cats appeared and even though I captured half of the second batch, suddenly a lot of cats appeared here in various stages of injury or ill health. All ages as well. I started making a huge effort to stop the progression of the colony. Thrasher was injured and vanished. Goldie was captured with her kittens and cat husband but two of her kittens were lost to predators before I could get them. Flowers was a very wily feral and avoided capture until she was the second to last cat left.
As I began to remove cats from outside and run off the predators, Jazzy made another appearance. Instead of having her babies in the usual place, under the Gingerbread house, she put her lone baby in a birds nest in the greenhouse. Lol Meet Corvus. That is Latin for Crow. Corvus got adopted. One of my earliest captures.

A later appearance by Jazzy with two more kittens. Coal and Jet.

I began to get close to Jazzy through Coal and Jet. Finally! However, she was already pregnant again.

Very pregnant. A few days after this she gave birth but this time she did it inside!
3CF1A7CA-3F10-4EA4-A9F3-434A31243911.jpeg

Jazzy was a very devoted mother and did not want to be separated from her grown children like Thrasher, Goldie and Flowers or her current kittens. They didn’t want to be away from her either!

Thrasher was dealing with her own litter outside but Jazzy had taught her to be a great feral mom.

I did reach Thrasher and kittens though. All kittens were adopted out and Thrasher was finally able to fully recover.

Flowers, another daughter well taught by Jazzy was also pregnant outside. I had a terrible time trying to find her as she was also the ultimate feral.

Jazzy had been learning to become social with humans.

Like Jazzy, Flowers was a devoted and protective mother.

Thrasher, as aunt to the Flower babies, babysat her nieces and nephews. All were adopted.

Hahahahaha! That’s quite a furmily tree!

I think I’m confused....Flowers is my mom, Jazzy is my grandmother and Thrasher and Callie are my ants? I thought ants were bugs!

Suffice it to say....

Jazzy became one very special Grandma! She got adopted too!

A cat family tree can be pretty complicated. Callie and Kelly are in the line too so the Gingerbread babies are more Jazzy Grandchildren. Lol
So, for anyone trying to stop a colony from multiplying, Spay, Neuter, Spay, Neuter, Spay! Act quickly too! There was a second bloodline and probably a third mixed into the colony. In fact, more if we look closely! BJ, Mitsy and siblings added their share to the numbers here. Less than two years and I counted about 125 living kitties. If you go back to the first colony (before Jazzy) make that about 300. That’s a low estimate. I know there were probably some that I never got to see but when Jazzy first appeared before colony number two, she was the only feral cat making an appearance. Obviously she found a mate somewhere but I don’t know for sure who he was. Only a guess about a neighbors Tom. A ginger. Jazzy was the very best cat mom I have ever seen. I don’t know how she evaded me and my neighbor and kept so many safe but she did it and remained a wonderful kitty. She was just as affectionate with me as she was with her babies and grown children. AMAZING! I haven’t had any updates since I got to hear about her adopting family. Two ladies and a couple of kittens adopted her. It was through a private adoption rescue so I don’t have ongoing contact but wherever she is, I know she is taking good care of her family. They don’t come any better than Jazzy. Kisses from your family here Jazzy! Thank you for bringing me so much joy through your awesome family and for Thrasher, Callie and Flowers. Jazzy should inspire every mother.

How is Smokey doing? I forgot to ask you that in my email, I was preoccupied with other matters. 😩

The tail of Jazzy.
Thanks for the Jazzy story. It was very jazzy indeed. And snazzy too, I enjoyed it. 👍

Jazzy should inspire every mother.
Yes, some beings get to enjoy having a wonderful, nurturing mother. ;)

Here's one joke for him.
I'm glad you posted that joke because I read on Facebook about a cat named Purple. I thought, cute name, but why would you name an orange cat Purple? Now I get it!... Purr-ple.

Asking for good vibes for Smokey tonight.
