Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Hek is a good Tortie! I know she still has her Tortie moments though. Lol Tortitude!

I would like to ask for good thoughts, vibes, hopes or prayers for a Tiger kitty who is a rescue. This kitty has found the best of human compassion and love but any good that can be sent to the human and kitty is something I would appreciate. It could help. :please:

I am looking around at the kitties here and reminded how far they have come. From the wet and dangerous place filled with troubles for them, to the amazingly sweet and affectionate fur babies before me. Ferals are so very adaptable, forgiving and loving! My very first post here was when I was seeking help and trying to offer the little support I had found myself. There were so many days in the journey when I was feeling like I could never reach the end of catching, spaying, neutering and vetting, much less trying to socialize and adopt out. My goal to bring every one of them to a safe place seemed unreachable. BUT, each time I saw another kitty, I pushed a little harder to keep the efforts going or I made another phone call, another email or spent some time trying to spread the word to find help for them. Each post here brought some measure of comfort , support or information to me. I am still very grateful to everyone here who has remained with us as we go forward. Each kitty got a piece of my heart and each of you has shared a piece of yours to give us strength. As I have said many times, there is strength in numbers. TCS is a family of humans and cats who are joined at the heart. Thank you for giving us your time, your words if hope, encouragement and for sharing our struggles and our laughter. I have often wondered what would have happened if I had not found TCS when I did. We survived. My hope is that I was able to give as much as I received. To each and every person who has come here, you have my greatest thanks! OUR greatest thanks. :touched:

Yes, there's much to look back at a rescued cat and it's a wonderful feeling that you have to see that they are well taken care after that.

I always looked back to the very first day I rescued January and I've mentioned this before, tears will just fill my eyes to think what if I've not rescued him. Each time when he eats, I wonder what will he be eating now if he's still not rescued or is there anything for him to eat and I feel good that he is safe in my home each time I see him at rest and sleeping around the house.

I think he feels thankful too.

As I watch these kitties, I feel that you are right. They are all thankful. January does know. I am quite sure that you saved his life by taking him. Now, Joy belongs to you and to January.

Another member here has taken in a rescue that has great needs. The cat was thought to be beyond help but I have just heard that he is finding comfort in the arms of a human and is receiving great love. He has begun to purr and finds it comforting to be in the bed and under the covers. He has taken some food. Eat and drink little Tiger! Drink deeply and know that all will be well from now on! Vibes , hope, prayers and healing! May he heal quickly with no more pain or fear. May he know he is safe and recognize the love. Strong vibes everyone! 🌊 :vibes::redheartpump:

I'm so glad you found TCS, otherwise we would never have met cats like BJ, or today's featured cat, Wanda Heart, not to mention their amazing human mom. So THANK YOU for rescuing the clowder, and THANK YOU for sharing daily updates on their lives with us.

When we lost Velcro to cancer, Michele wanted no more cats- she couldn't deal with the pain. And yet, here we are with our own mini-clowder, and when one or more curl up next to you at night, or decide that your lap is the perfect place to take a nap- well, how do you describe the feeling? Who knows what end they might have faced, given the circumstances. We couldn't save them all, but we did the best we could, so yeah, when I see what you have managed, all I can say, besides holy (bleep) is: Well done.

Great news about Tiger the kitty everyone! So very great! He ate! He ate a lot! Finally! Your vibes must be helping! :yess: It had been the general thought that this kitty would not survive his injuries and fear. One great human took on the hope for him. The human guardian got him started by giving comfort and love. Today they let kitty lick food from their finger. Trust was demonstrated, accepted and returned! Giving up means certain failure but holding out hope and love can work. The news made my day and I hope it does the same for everyone here. Now ....litter box Tiger!! Eat, drink, love and potty!:cloud9::clap2:

rubysmama rubysmama Each day here on TCS is important for so many! Progress is made here, hope is held high, there are shoulders to lean on and smiles to be shared. So many cats and so many loving humans. To be a part of this has been a very good thing for the kitties and for me. We got very lucky the night I googled looking for help. In fact, I believe I just typed in ,”Cat help.” Thecatsite came up and I ventured in to look. I had never joined any website before but after reading awhile, I wanted to respond to someone else. It took me some time to figure things out that night but I managed to leave a few posts. Lol Although I did not find exactly what I came looking for, I found much more. I went back to the job at hand that night. I had 44 cats to socialize and get vetted on top ( almost literally! Lol) of the residents who needed attention. What I found here that night was that I was not alone in my attempts, needs, hopes and love for feral , rescued and resident cats. Others shared my path. It lifted my spirits. I found the rainbow bridge too. My heart went out to those there and I posted there too. It was awhile before I found time to come back because I was so busy guarding the cats that remained outside and searching for resources. It had been about a decade since I had worked with the Felv colony here and I was desperate to prevent anything like that from occurring. One night I was tired and taking a few minutes to try and digest the events of that day. I had begun to find homes for kitties! I thought of TCS and logged back in. Once again, I found others with similar issues. I posted a bit more. More time elapsed and then someone here reached out to me. I’ll never forget that email. It led to the beginning of this thread. Never in a lifetime had I ever imagined that I would be writing a thread anywhere. Never would I have imagined that anything I was doing would be of any interest to anyone else. I just wanted to try and give a bit of encouragement in case anyone else was struggling the way I had been struggling to save kitties. A vast world opened up to me after that. A few responses at a time in the beginning here and a few posts fro me to others. I have learned so much here and met so many amazing people and precious kitties! It has been a fantastic journey and quite a ride! I got really excited when I had 1000 posts here! Number 1000 was a real winner too! We talked about trying to get BJ to join us since he was still in the swamp and about me eating peanut butter. I was on a rescue budget! Looking back!

Soooo, N NY cat man You May not have seen the posts about this cat, Twilight.
1FAD2787-52C2-408A-9C0B-EE67B705A25B.jpeg

Although I managed to bring him in early on in the battle for this colony, we cannot save them all. He did get time to feel safe and know that he was loved and he inspired me to keep going. He went to dance on the rainbow and he left his spot here open for the next kitty from the colony. I understand why Michelle did not want another cat but I am very grateful to you both for saving Miss Eleanor and Digger and all the others. Velcro left a warm spot open for them in your hearts. While one chapter ended, another began.

To all the staff here, the advisors, the mentors and moderators as well as the founder of the site, members guests and every shadow that stops to stand behind us, my thanks go to you. You make the path to rescues easier and escort us on our journeys. You dry our tears and share the laughter. Not one of us will walk alone. That is what furmilies are all about. Furballsmom Furballsmom :):yeah:

Yay to all the Tigers out there! Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 You too!

:kitty: If you can hope for it, it can happen.

Furballsmom Furballsmom Bj! Lol That was a well timed shot. :flail:I think BJ was a bit suspicious of a toy bird landing there. He was totally okay with the bird being on his head but.....butt...

Tonight brought another kind of reaction from BJ. I have had company that the kitties do not know. The person has allergies and although they have had one dog in their lifetime, no other pets EVER! I think the kitties recognized this fact. I have noticed how cats pick up on whether people are open to a relationship with them , or not. The kitties here have had a lot of new people come and go over the time they have been inside. I try to expose them to others so they won’t be nervous or scared if someone comes to visit or do any sort of maintenance here. Some still hide but most come out to investigate if the person in in the House very long. Thrasher, BJ, Dolly, Purry, Lady, Smokey, Bonjure and Mackie are very interested in new humans. The others have a slower acceptance time. Mackie is nonchalant. Dolly wants undivided attention. Lol BJ is the guardian and always puts himself between me and the human but does so by rubbing against the persons legs and trying to push them a bit further away. Very subtle. This visitor got a little different reception. Dolly and BJ were the only two that appeared for the first few days of the visits. Dolly kept sitting nearby in a chair and meowing at the visitor while staring at them! BJ did greet them in his usual manner the first day but then.....did not attempt any further contact. His final reaction? Lol What do you think he was trying to say? Opinions please everyone on this cat speak!

Observing the human interactions.

The company leaves tomorrow so the kitties can return to their regular routine.

In about another hour I will be going outside to look for the comet! Neowise is a recent discovery and an impressive comet. For May of us it is visible. Binoculars will help if you have them. Telescopes are even better but the eye may be able to spot it without help. It is a split tail comet and it won’t return for about 6,800 years so, now’s your chance to see it. In some places it is visible just after dark and in others, just before daylight. I am hoping to spot it! I hope we all get to see it!

Have a great night everyone!!:redheartpump:

Lol What do you think he was trying to say?
BJ says, 'I must always protect Mom from all these strange two legged non stop chatting whatever you call them and that's why Dolly keeps telling them to shut up!...........................lol........................... :flail:

Ooooooo.............comet....................hope you get to see it. It's special as it's a split tail comet. Yes, many do not or most of them will not appear again in our life time. Go catch it!

And to think, when I first came upon this thread, you were afraid that BJ was going to eat you. My, how times have changed!
When it put in it's appearance, I managed to get some shots of the Hale-Bopp comet. They turned out a little fuzzy because I didn't have access to a tripod with an equatorial mount and motor drive, but still it was recognizable as a comet and not just a blob of white. It has been too cloudy to see this new one, though.

The last comet I chased every night was Halley's Comet which past by in 1986 and the next sighting will be 2061 (76 years later) which I don't think I'll be here to catch it again......................
This comet leave a beautiful bluish long tail and I took many photographs of it.

I feel the same. When I adopted Waffles I went googling how to help him and do the best for him with him being sooooo very terrified. I stumbled on this site and *wow* what a treasure trove. I couldn't have done it without all of the wonderful cat people on here. What a jewel for the lives of me and my kitties.

It would be great if we could all see pictures of the comets past! I have old photos of eclipses but nothing like a comet! Now I don’t have a camera that is likely to get much of a photo of this one but we’ll see. It is likely to just be a blur if anything. It makes me wish for all my old equipment.

tabbytom tabbytom Dolly did have very strong opinions! He talked non stop too! I suppose that, being the eldest comes with some cat responsibilities. Lol BJ is not very vocal. More of an action hero!

I did try to catch the comet but I couldn’t reach it! Lol I could see it vaguely. The sky isn’t totally clear so it was a bit obscured. I’m going to keep trying. You got to see Haley’s? That’s amazing. I didn’t get to see that one but wanted too. Getting photos of that must have been very exciting!

N NY cat man I definitely thought BJ might eat me! Lol He was very good at swatting and giving me,” how dare you come near” looks. The only time he reaches out to grab me now is to try and pull me back inside the door if I go out. His expression in that last photo was a little reminiscent of the “eat the intruder” look. Lol It’s so neat that once he made up his mind to come in, he just came in! From swamp to house in one night! All the nights of me laying in the dark with him certainly paid off. I’m really glad he prefers the bed now!

You got to see and take picture of the Hale-Bopp comet? That’s another one I would like to have seen. The weather keeps us from seeing some of the sky shows but I did get to see the last meteor shower and the Blood moon. I love watching the sky!

pearl99 pearl99 Thecatsite is a jewel for us. I’m so glad you found it too. I know you have seen how many others, like us, who show up for help. It’s a great feeling to be able to return what we were given as support isn’t it? You certainly have done a lot for all the kitties there! No longer terrifying to do a rescue. How are all the kitties doing?

Okay, some pictures from the past. First is Hale-Bopp from 1997; the others are of an annular solar eclipse, but I don't remember the year- sometime in the early 90s.

EDIT: I looked it up, and the eclipse was on May 10, 1994.
