Did the dentist tell you when they can see you?
They put us all on a list since they closed. I guess they will probably go in order. This tooth has hurt me for 15 years. I can take the pain, but was just looking forward to it finally being over. 👎

Thanks mom. I think it’s time to go inside.
Lady looks like a little dolly in that pic. 😍 I'm so envious of you carrying her around. Thanks by the way for telling me the difference between "jealous" & "envious" the other day. I've been using them wrong all these years.

I found this too. By CAT Stevens!
Awww, Lady has her own song now, like my Maggie May. :)

M maggiedemi I am sure that Lady would love for you to carry her around. I bet she would
think it was great to be carried in one of those baby carriers that is like a big front pocket. Lol She likes to walk around in the grass some but then she’s all about being a kitty in arms. She says you should come and give her a lift! We all hope you get that dentist visit behind you soon. :hugs:

tabbytom tabbytom Well then, very glad you got the idea and took it a step further. I think it is purrfect.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I don’t know if I made it in time. I still have a bit more to do but stopped to post. Lol Very long days lately. Thank you! I am truly running on empty as far as energy but will try to look before bed.

I think we're all entranced by this love story! It is quite amazing and very beautiful.
newegg.com has quite a few dyson refurbs. They have a direct link to them on their page, so whenever you do have the time and energy and inclination, you can just go there and see what they've got at the time. I expect they sell rather fast! but there should be some available just about all the time. Hoping you feel more energized soon. Green tea tablets/capsules are a great help to me in that department and you can get them at Walgreens or any health food or drug store.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I will get around to that Dyson. Thank you for hanging in there with me. I’m going to look for those green tea capsules!

I have been working towards several things. One is helping a friend with a trap to get a feral mom and three babies. I am hoping he can get her and I have located the local groups in his county who might be willing to take on the kitties. He is a truck driver and extremely busy these days and I am super impressed that he cares enough to come and get everything from me to accomplish this. I have lent him a very large crate to put mom and babies in until we can work out the next step. If he can catch them! Paws crossed!
Another issue here is that I have been hoping to rebuild my orchid supply. All of my plants were destroyed by hoodlums when I began rescuing the ferals. Awful but in the long run, small price to pay for so many lives. It will be a very long journey to regain as many as I lost but today brought a wonderful new start from a dear friend. Over the years we shared plants and a love of orchid species. Of course we love the pretty ones that are found for sale in most stores but our focus was on preserving the odd or rarer of the orchid world. I guess you could say we preferred the ferals. My friend and his daughter had been planning a trip here to bring me some plants. I haven’t seen him in many years and greatly hoped the visit would happen but Covid made it difficult. It was a very long trip for them too. I have been preparing an outside space where we could visit in comfort but my injury held me up on that. I did get it done but after awhile, the heat and mosquitos drove us to wear masks and come inside. Today, everything came together to bring me that visit and a start to rebuilding the orchid collection. This is just a start since I have to prepare the greenhouse to have plants again. I still have a lot of work ahead of me but today brought amazing plants, some that have been in my hands before, some that I have not seen in bloom before.
BTW They are animal lovers too! They have kitties, lizards, bunnies and various other creatures. The daughter showed me a precious photo of two rescues she had as very tiny infants. The infants bonded together as brother and sister despite being different species. The photo showed a puppy, eyes still closed, with both front paws around sibling, baby squirrel!

I thought everyone here might like to see something a little different today. The last photo is the best one.

This strange looking thing is actually a spike that will have miniature blooms along each side soon.

A view of some of the orchids.
26386D0B-AB08-4076-8046-E47F9A86F5B1.jpeg

Miniature plants and on the right, baby plants. Already growing for several years, I still have to wait until they are old enough to flower.

These orchid plants are mounted to mimic the way they grow in nature.

The color of this one is generally unusual for most orchids. Although it is more a purple tint, it is considered a blue.
CE1B140D-53A6-470F-A3DB-9A357F83CD3D.jpeg

A long trip and a relaxing visit. Topped off by new friendships! Lol BJ and my friend took a cat nap together.
56727099-6070-49E8-892B-24D9F1DF1F51.jpeg

My friends got here early this morning and I am waiting to hear that they made it home okay. After that, I may be napping too! Bj is already prepping me. He is asleep in my lap.,
I may be back later but I may be cat snuggling! Either way, have a great night everyone! :heartshape:

Very nice! My father was the same way, only with iris instead of orchids. He belonged to the Empire State Iris Society, and they had meetings at members' houses where they could swap for different varieties. I don't recall now how many that he had in his gardens, but it was a lot, and he had slides of each and every one.

N NY cat man I love Iris too. I haven’t run into an Iris society here but found other groups specific to other types of flowers. I can totally understand him taking slides of the Iris. I have thousands of slides of orchids and also habitat. Lol My friend just brought me a few thousand produced for The American Orchid Society. The judging of orchids means all winning flowers are documented in text and photos so that we can learn and keep track of winners for future comparisons. I did a bit of photography for them years ago. All are published in the Awards Quarterly magazine which is seen by no one but people like me. Shhh. Don’t tell them I said that.
Flowers of all kinds hold my attention. I can only imagine the collection your Dad must have had in his garden. The neat thing about planting a garden is that generations later, some plants can still be thriving or spreading to the delight of others who come along. Every time I have moved, I eagerly awaited the appearance of whatever was growing nearby.

C catapault I went to the link! Lovely orchid show. Very well done and the rainbow lights were a show by themselves! Thank you! I also looked up the Vanda named for the designer. It’s a lovely Vanda that is such a dark purple it is nearly black. There is some white and very heavy spots of the dark purple. I spent much of my life working with orchids and always enjoy seeing the shows. I have not been to that Botanical Garden but did have a friend/orchid breeder who did the New York shows in the Twin Towers. Verrry long time ago. ;)
If you like Orchids and books, you might read ,”The Orchid Thief.” It’s not what you would expect from a flower based business but very true. The people featured in the book were well known around the community.

wish I could send you the aroma! I wait for someone to invent Smellography.
Yea, I once smelled a banana flavored t-shirt. You rub your hands on the banana photo on the t-shirt and the banana scent is on your hands but I don't now if someone would be clever enough to send scents over the internet and maybe one day there will be and maybe its here already :dunno:

Talking about the name Vanda. The Vanda Miss Joaquim is our National Flower :- vanda-miss-joaquim

Splendid photographs! The lighting makes the flowers appear to glow! The shadows are pretty too. It almost looks like the flowers have a light inside them.
I am very familiar with Vanda Miss Joaquim! Anyone who favors Vandas learns about that gorgeous flower! That plant has the distinctive terete leaf shape too. The National flower here is the rose but if I could have chosen, it would have been an orchid. Lol I love roses too but.....
Miss Joaquim is a great Vanda. It flowers a lot! Much more than many of the Vandas out there. I think we are all falling in love with Singapore!

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of my effort to find Thomas O'Malley. Still have not seen him but I have been putting out food where someone from Hoods said they saw him two weeks ago. This has always worried me- that he would not stay king of the hill forever. :(

I have caught two of the kittens- one is sick with an upper respiratory infection but is doing well over at the vets. The second one is with me tonight, ( a long hair tortie) and will be going to join her brother tomorrow.

I also think I may have caught somebody's pet cat. :(

Very glad to hear from you. So sorry you haven’t seen O’Malley but don’t despair. As BJ got older he often vanished. Many times I thought I had seen the last of him only to spot him dashing away. Just a blur of stripes.
Respiratory infections are just so easy fora kitten to get. Hoping some anti biotics will knock it out quickly. A long hair Tortie? Oh boy! Beauty! Catching a pet probably happens to every rescuer at least once. Get it checked for a microchip and hope! That’s the easiest solution. Did it have a collar? I always call vets and send photos as well as posting signs that just say ,” found cat and a phone number.” I let the callers describe the cat and I ask lots of questions to verify. Including, can your vet verify? Returning a pet gives you a chance to rescue and , hopefully, earn gratitude. Also give a little polite lesson on how to keep the kitty safe from now on.
Great job! :clap2::goldstar:

So awful that your orchids were destroyed during your quest to save the ferals, but I'm so happy that you are starting to rebuild your supply. The pictures are absolutely beautiful.

When I was a kid, we would occasionally come across a lady slipper when walking through the woods. Finding one was more rare than seeing a rainbow, and I haven't seen one now in years. It was a long time before I realized they were orchids.

Not orchids, but here's a pic of my rhododendron from a week or so ago. It's a mini version, that looks more like an azalea, however, unlike an azalea, it keeps its leaves year round.
