Cat magic and a cat mama with a bountiful of love! :heartshape: If you don't mind would it be okay for me to tell my feline vet about Banjo's case? She has been in practice for a long time and reminds me of a female Dr. Herriot from All Creatures Great & Small. I just got off the phone with her. The clinic closed two hours ago but she's still there and was returning my call from earlier today. She has never turned Carleton away no matter how late she has to stay or how many patients have appointments. She's research oriented and very dedicated to her profession. She's one in a million and I'm sure would love to hear about Banjo's story and, of course, You. :hugs:
I hope the answer is "Yes!" because that's how anything gets better, by sharing, and in cases where it's all about saving lives, all the more so!:yess::cheerleader::goodluck:

Just heard from Harvey's mom. He came home today, thinner but unharmed. Checked on Instagram, Dexter is still looking for a furrever home. In the meantime he is in foster care safe and being loved through Mygrandfatherscat a nonprofit organization that helps seniors and terminally ill find second homes for their beloved pets when they are unable to care for them any longer. They also aid the family of folks who have passed who cannot take care of them. They are based in Canada.

What a wonderful org Mygrandfatherscat is! There should be chapters everywhere. So many agonize over "What happens when...?" and it needs to be addressed, urgently.
Very glad about Harvey. Praying they keep him indoors from now on!
*Prayers* for Dexter to find his loving permanent person/family and home very quickly.

They didn't post any details but the greatest news is he found a furrever home!
I've gotten some other good news today, but this news is the BEST news. May Dexter have a happy, comfortable, safe, healthy, LOVED life in a permanent home with wonderful guardian(s)/family!

Wondering the same thing, Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose Saw on the news that they're having some nasty weather in the general vicinity so hoping Chez Catbird is safe and all its inhabitants are well!
In that case I will say a few prayers for Jcatbird Jcatbird and everyone else effected by this Nor'Easter. I live in the Northeast and we're just getting rain over here. We might have some of the white stuff on Christmas Eve, so we will see how that goes.

Stay safe everyone. 🙂

Yep, she's getting a bit of nasty weather, or...the general area is. NC is still having unseasonably warm weather. Some days, the ac on, some days just the fan, and a FEW with the heat on, at least overnight. I am not looking forward to Spring. We will be eaten alive by the bugs! Just not getting enough real cold to kill off some of the eggs.

Good, Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose and back at'cha! :goodluck:
Yes, Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Climate change in action. One never knows what it will be/do from one day to the next. I look at photos I've taken year to year to see how things are changing. Aspects of winter have come early here; but our rainy season, which usually starts in November, has started in December for two years in a row.

I feel like I'm ruining a party, but my heart is so heavy tonight as my sweet, beautiful Sidekick crossed the rainbow bridge today and sadly it was not an easy passing. I feel so angry at myself for not recognizing he was sick. I noticed he was not eating as much the past couple of days and thought he was just filling up wherever he goes during the day. I had seen him wheeze a couple of times, but didn't think much of it as I have several cats that wheeze from time to time. My guess is he had pneumonia. I was out all day yesterday and he was in his little house when I got home. He again didn't come out for food. I checked him before going to bed and noticed his rear was hanging out the entrance of the shelter so I took a blanket out and covered that side to provide him with more warmth. I checked on him this late morning when I woke up and noticed he had not moved all night. He was still alive but not looking well. I was able to pull him out of the shelter and put him into a carrier and brought him into my home where we stayed in a closet together. I put a heated pad on him, turned on the vaporizer and put some cool water on a cloth on his tongue. The vet couldn't get me in until 3:30. Sadly he took his last breath around 2:30. Right now I am in shock, angry and so very sad. I will miss that precious guy who trusted me and allowed me to be his friend. We are going to bury him under the tree in the front yard where he used to sleep.

Don’t blame yourself! I know you hear that said a lot, but, we can all just do our best. You went above and beyond. Cats don’t like sending out flares and signals. You took him in and loved him to a warm and safer place. He knew that. He allowed you to be his friend—- trust isn’t given to just anyone, you know, especially w/ ferals. You gave your heart to this.

neely neely Going to type fast. Storms killing signals again. YES! Please tell the vet the story of Banjo!! I give all permission to share all the medical stuff here and on the health forum about Banjo. It’s posted to try and spread the info as well as trying to save lives that otherwise might be lost. I keep thinking about how easily the tapeworm meds could be used to “see” if a condition can be easily solved rather than thousands of dollars spent on testing and specialist. Those tests we did still did not get divinities answers until we saw the final results and so much of that could have been skipped if we had known to try the meds first. Now we know it is a possible condition and a possible solution. If one cat is saved, the expense we had was well worth it. If the vet has any questions, I would be glad to answer them or try to link your vet to the ones we used. The more vets that know, the more lives saved. Thank you for thinking of doing this!:heartshape::clap2:

I am so sorry for the loss of Sidekick. Please do not be hard on yourself. Cats are experts at hiding illness. I lost some kitties to cancer and they hide it well until it couldn't be hidden anymore. I also had outdoor cats seem fine and then just suddenly die for no known reason.

Cherish the good times with Sidekick. Remember him in life. Also he has been very lucky to know you. Thank you for taking care of this Kitty. Yiu made a different in Sidekick's life. Bless you. ❤

CatladyJan CatladyJan You haven’t ruined anything! We want to know so that we can be here for you. I am so sorry! I am so grateful to you for bringing that kitty in and sharing the final moments by just being there. That conveys to the kitty the warm love that surrounds them. Please don’t blame yourself for loving him because that is what you did and it is the greatest of all gifts we can give in life. If I had to go, I would want to simply be with someone who loved me and could be there beside me at the end. That is the very best any of us can hope for when the end comes. Many, many hugs and much love sent to you as you must go through this. I know the pain is awful but the love is what mattered. That is huge. :grouphug2::alright::hugs: Your Sidekick is now your guardian and is smiling and filled with the love you gave. The wings take flight when lifted by love.

CatladyJan CatladyJan Oh, my Dear Friend, I am so sorry to hear about Sidekick. What I want you to remember is that the minute you realized how sick he was, you brought him in, and gave him every comfort you could. What he knew of hearth, home and love, he knew from you, and those things were with him in his final moments...and he knew that.
