Don’t know how door got open. Thankful no more left. Only Thrasher has vanished. Hoping. Resting a minute and going back out. All kitties being shut in carriers and cages during the search so I can grow open a door if needed. Already got one Owee. Mitsy is totally freaked out by whatever occurred this morning. It’s cold so setting up a tarp to sleep under if I find a sign of where she went.
OMG. So scared for you and Thrasher. Sending love:redheartpump:

Dang it all! Too bad you don't have one of those Ring doorbell camera setups. Have you contacted the local shelter? Did you notify the sheriff about a possible break in?
Stay safe Jcatbird. Keep looking for Thrasher, but secure your home and contact the police if this has all the telltale signs of a break in. Hang in there.❤❤❤

It’s like she just evaporated. I found every cat in the area that I know of and one that appeared lately. I walked for Miles and talked to lots of people in the area. Not one has seen her. Yet, surely she is near! I keep feeling she is not out front but must have gone where she remembers. But not a sound. I have offered a reward. The shelter won’t be open until the week days and frankly, it’s in another town so and 15 miles away do that it is very doubtful anyone would have taken her but I will inquire. Also will inquire with our vet which is much closer. People around here don’t generally care about cats. They use them but don’t love them. The one house where they claimed to have an indoor only cat, answered the door with a leashed pit bull and a Chihuahua. While I did not see an indoor cat, I did spot the cat that ate on my porch last night. Not a feral but wary of me. Police will not respond to a “missing cat.” The marks on the door would seem debatable I think. If I had been injured or something, to them, that would be worth calling about. I have run into far worse than this before. I know the routine with them. I will call my officer friend at Animal Control and contact all the nearby cat groups. I think that I may have an idea what happened but we’ll wait and see. Others are rallying to watch over us.
For now, I will continue as o have been and search. I walked all the routes around my land and far beyond. I just came home because it was getting dark and the rain is super cold. I walked all the bordering swamp and woods down to the nearest creek which she is unlikely to have crossed. I zig zagged all the way back and encountered a cat in the woods. I had seen it once before. It followed me for awhile and when I approached the house, it was beside my fence. Yes, I fed it. There is one small area I had trouble getting to but later I will check.
I moved the cameras around again. Doubled them up. Nothing sprung the trap. No paw prints in the sand. I put Thrashers litter box in the greenhouse but it is untouched. The newest carrier is in the greenhouse too. I put one of BJ’s blankets in the trap. I have set up some temporary shelters in the yard and done what I can to “dog proof” it. I saw the local buzzards while I was out but they just seemed to be searching. Dam bird and her young one followed me home. One neighbor gave me a few cans of cat food that her “outside” cat won’t eat. 9 Lives. I don’t think these kitties will touch it but it won’t go to waste. If I go to the shelter, I’ll take it there. The locals were very nice about letting me thoroughly search their property. I think I have been under every house and outbuilding in the area now. In a couple of culverts too. The woods weren’t as bad.

More happened since o started writing. Let me post this and get something to eat and a shower as well as charge the phone.

This is actually a tire rut from when those hoodlums used to drive into the swamp in the wee hours. Still deep and a cat could hide there.

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 I have an idea of what happened. I can’t prove it but with patience, the person will put themselves into the spotlight.
Tonight I heard a noise on one of the cameras in the greenhouse. Scratching. Similar to litter box. Nothing seen but I went out to look. Just as I reached the greenhouse, drunk neighbors far across the road screamed and shouted. (These are the new neighbors I have spoken about before. ) Obviously a party outside in the cold and rain! Just as the scream sounded, a streak flew across my vision in the dark. A cat had blasted out the greenhouse door! I can’t be positive but I think it was Thrasher. She never hesitated when I called to her. The party grew louder and I grew angry. I went to the neighbor between me and the noisy ones. As I was talking to him, we heard shots. Pawpurr was terrified. I comforted her. Then we decided to go out on the porch. When we sat on the porch, they quieted just a little. No more gunfire. Not from them. Another neighbor must have grown weary of their inconsiderate behavior too. Shots were fired from them! Poor Thrasher! I began to video the noise but after shots were returned, the noisy neighbors stopped.( I did get the shots sounding on my phone! ) I expect that the whole neighborhood here has had their fill of this kind of stuff! I don’t agree with firing shots in return but it worked. It is illegal to fire a gun in a neighborhood but proving it is difficult and rarely results in more than a citation. When things quieted I came home and moved all the cats out of the cat room. If Thrasher looks, she can see she has a way to get back inside. She was so close to the back of the house if that was her that I saw. She is back to being totally in feral mode. I am praying she didn’t go too far. I may have to go around the route I took today to send her back this way but hoping she will come in if that was her. I left a trail of things that carry BJ scent, treats, special foods and I put blankets and heat for her to access. It was just a flash of leaping cat in the dark but I am putting all my instincts into it being her. If I can wake up tomorrow and find her in the cat room or nearby......
For now, I am watching all the cameras and listening for more scratching. It looked like some kitty scratched the ground near the food dish and also scratched some dry leaves into the carrier. Sounds like Thrasher to me!

Watching in the cat room. I left a trail of catnip too. Come home Thrasher! I left a light on for you!

BellaGooch BellaGooch Noise complaints can be filed but they either result in “Turn it down or we’ll be back”. Or.... your neighbor over there wants you to stop! No. These days officers are under funded and short handed. Better to wait until they are sober and try to reason with them. Or.... hope they move. I have the sounds on video though. Audio.
Absolutely exhausted. Hoping for good news soon but I may be quick to post until I get rest. I still have to get Flowers settled in since she prefers the cat room. Gotta bring in another big cage for her to use as her bedroom! Lol That way I can close her door if I open the cat room.
