I know this isn't your point, but oh my goodness, I LOVE sphynx cats so much! (Also, I want to go to a cat convention! I'm envious!)
It was awesome! We signed up to do yoga with kittens and a time for the cat café where we got to play with more kittens and eat pastries. We didn't go to any of the panels, but it was still a fun experience.

Well, we all love all cats. We want to keep all species here and in good care whether pure bred of otherwise. I have always admired every cat I have ever seen. Lol As humans, our job is to keep our world a good and beatiful place. Everything comes back to being good humans and loving all we are given. If a problem arises, it is up to us to handle it in a humane way. We can debate the issues ad finitum but it boils down to each of us attempting to educate about TNR, advocating for all cats , doing our part as we can and doing what we can to learn more as we go. I know that in my part of the world, things have improved greatly when it comes to having programs available to care for animals, laws to protect them, knowledge about them, improved medical care and respect for life! Sometimes as we fight the battle for improvements it seems that we see more bad than good but truthfully, we are just becoming more aware and more sensitive to the problems. That is as it needs to be for us to be effective but it is also very hard to stand. That’s why places like TCS are so important. We gain knowledge, share it and provide support to everyone here. There is strength in numbers. For anyone younger than myself, I can tell you that my own battles to save animals may feel harder but there are far more protections in place than ever before. There was a time when all animals were “just animals.” Their value was in food or in the work they could do. When I was young and imagined “Cat speak” was the way that cat body language communicated, it was not understood by anyone I knew but I believed in what I saw. Apparently others saw it too. Maybe our world is experiencing some growing pains but I do believe that some aspects are better. We just have to keep hanging in there.

I think we could all use some smiles about now?

Our story about Prints is going to be in two posts. It starts with a wish from a very special
cat. Some cat speak WILL be included. Lol

Once upon a time, there was a very special cat.

She remembered being a feral.....

And she wondered what she could do to make the world better.
A066520A-B8F3-4DBA-8989-5AA57973D7A7.jpeg

Being a feral kitten wasn’t easy.

She and her siblings had to take care of each other.

When the Catbird lady showed up and took them in, it was a strange but nice experience!

She slept more soundly than she had ever slept before.

At first she and her brother remained a bit skeptical.

But in time....

They began to love heating pads and human snuggles. Something magical must have brought them to this place.

Perhaps their outside protector had helped them. Green is beautiful!

Even the human seemed to know that!

Life changed for the kittens but love grew even better.

The special little cat was very observant of her new world.

Sometimes it was very amusing.
C8E849DE-1610-46A9-9A77-E78FCF7E33CE.jpeg

On other days she watched as more kitties were rescued from a hard life. Kittens had been separated from their moms outside and were lost.

But when they were reunited....

It was wonderful to watch.

More kitties came too.

The special cat saw all the love the human got from the rescued kitties and it was good.

Then she saw that other cats helped with the rescues.

It made the new kittens laugh.

The ferals learned that , even older kitties can play.

Then something very wonderful happened.
On a dark night when all creatures were stirring in the wild, a cat appeared at the door and asked to come in to join the others. He was tired of being alone and he could not find his family.

The special cat and her brother were overcome with joy! It was their long lost Daddy!

When the Catbird lady let him in, the special cat was happier than she had ever been before. Rescuing cats was the best thing ever!
4D1774DE-93B8-4665-A4F3-E15CE2287EF3.jpeg

She began to wonder if she could do a bit of magic and rescue kitties too!
58D0B2D6-F262-4B84-B5AD-81D29F50745C.jpeg

She wished when the moon turned red and....

She wished when the sun was full of beautiful colors.
8E88B2B2-749C-4189-AC77-572939EC4393.jpeg

She dreamed of a magical frog and she believed.
A8B069CE-5970-4A81-9920-50FA6FD2E577.jpeg

When her old friend Froggie appeared at her window, she kissed him and thanked him for watching over her and her family when they were all ferals.
6E3BA3BB-9F8E-4023-9B3D-FF3132788883.jpeg

She knew in her heart that he was her Frog Prince. They spent many long hours together, singing and talking. Each day the special cat told Froggie of her dreams and hopes for enough magic to rescue lost kitties. Each day she thanked him again with a kiss.
0BF34D1D-5BA2-4A5A-92A2-FD3C9D4767BB.jpeg

Then something began to happen. The special cat was turning into a Princess.

When her Prince came inside to visit her....

She began to feel like a Princess.

She had become a very wise cat.....
21E5B7E9-273C-4DA2-A8E9-D5A519F6D345.jpeg

And she recognized magic when it came before her. Inside the floating bubble she saw her Fairy Catmother. This is when she made her one wish.
1C330C72-27DF-4889-B841-1C82BE2A1AC8.jpeg

She wished that she could have enough magic to rescue a lost kitten herself. Her Fairy Catmither told her that all she had to do was to kiss her Prince again.
74675647-44C8-4BB3-A07F-4B397293D591.jpeg

She ran to her window to wait for her Prince.
A661B24D-07C3-4899-A429-8074B06915FD.jpeg

Faithful as always, Froggie arrived.
5B39B13F-B52C-48FC-96C8-7FEDF4B16998.jpeg

The very special cat told him about all about the magic of her day and hope of saving a lost kitten and Froggie was happy for the Princess he loved.

Indeed, the kiss itself was filled with love and magic.

The frog Prince even let the Catbird lady understand that peace would come to his Princess.

Someone told me that if he see a cat walk past him and he'll kick it and my reply to him is don't let me see you do that or else I'll kick you back on the cat's behalf and then report you to the authorities.
I hate to darken the mood of this thread again, especially after the sweet story Jcatbird Jcatbird posted, but after reading the above, I couldn't not post about my poor Ruby girl being the victim of humans kicking her. When I adopted her, I asked if they knew her history, and all they could tell me was that she was brought into the shelter by someone who rescued her from kids that were kicking her. :fuming: My poor baby girl had a wiggly eye, as well as her 2 top canine teeth were broken, and needed to be extracted. I'm so grateful that someone cared enough to save her, and that the shelter took her in and got her all fixed up. :lovecat2:

I think we could all use some smiles about now?
Definitely. :redheartpump: Super sweet story. :redheartpump: Think there were even some pics I hadn't seen before. Looking forward to part 2. :redheartpump:

Video is unavailable.
Strange. It worked for me. :headscratch:

Glad that you took her in and she has a good life with you :clapcat:

I hate all these and I saw a video of some girls abusing a kitten about less than a month old. I cried when I saw the video and I want to do the same to them for what they did to the kitten. I'm so sad and felt so sorry for the kitten and even as I type this, tears are flowing down my face 😭 I can't talk about this. It's just too sad...........................
That was the sickest thing I've ever seen and I tried very hard to think of other things as to erase that scene out of my mind and now it's playing back in my mind 😿

I think (if jcatbird will allow me to interpret :) ) this thread began as a testament to the strength of positivity.

I just did a search to see what methods there are to help a person deal with negative thoughts, and there are quite a few. One I use is that when you catch yourself in a negative thought loop, you yank your mental self back into the present, as often as necessary. I like this because I've always felt that getting stuck in my own head with negativity dishonors the people, animals and beauty that are here with me in the present.

I think we should honor this thread and its original poster, who by the way is the epitome of a person who does not let negativity get the upper hand, by following her lead, and by working hard to find personal ways of keeping ourselves more positive.

As for me, I'll take the strays or ferals, thank you very much. After all, I'm something of a mongrel, myself.
While I miss the magazine, and the knowledge I got, I'm with you all the way!

1604374328980.png

Almost every cat I've ever had was a rescue. The big exception was a purebred Russian Blue that was a gift from a friend of the family who was a breeder. Anyone who has read here for long has heard stories about Grey. He was a remarkable cat. But other than that... rescues.

Scamper has gone Beetlejuice-y on me. When I take out the Front Door Cats' food, I'll whisper his name loudly, three times. And he ALWAYS pops up on the third, "SCAMPER!" It's a little unsettling, or would be if he wasn't such a lambcat.

Speaking of Scamper, I've noticed something about him. I've never known a house cat who could tolerate full-length strokes along the spine for long. Hek loves strokes, but down her sides, avoiding the spine itself. But Scamper LOVES them! I can stroke him from head to tail for a full five minutes, and never a skin ripple...AND he'll demand more if I stop. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that ferals have so many outlets for the excess energy...

Lari Lari I remember when you got to go to that convention. It was a wonderful treat. As you may or may not know, the Cat Cafe here opened during my quest for kitty adoptions. I was at the height of the search and of a great many kitties. The Cat Cafe did take in some of the kitties I had placed with the shelter adoption center. I was very grateful and been an advocate of that operation ever since. I get messages about any struggles they have but also some amazing and fun events there. Yoga with kittens must have been so funny! Did the kittens run around and do their own yoga or did they watch everyone with a puzzled look? Banjo is a Yoga enthusiast. Yoga is something I learned about at a young age and it is a great way to relax and destress.👍 Doing it with kitties.... even better! I think Prints may know a little Yoga too.
If you want to relax, put you feet behind your head and...

Maybe you can find it if you look on YouTube under “Vampire Weekend 2021” There is more than one version but that one was all video of a little frog as it walked and climbed on a branch. The close up of the red eyed tree frog was great photography. I hope you get to see it. It’s short but cute.

rubysmama rubysmama I think it is important for everyone to understand the reality of what some cats endure. In order to stop bad things, we first have to know they exist. Poor sweet Ruby! Her story may help to encourage others to rescue more kitties. It took a very responsible and loving human to intervene and get her to safety, a good shelter with loving staff members to care for her and try to find her a home and and another (you) loving and responsible human to give her a home. That amount of good people far out weighs the number involved in the cruelty so perhaps we can look at this as good winning out over evil? The more of us standing on the side of good, the less kitties will suffer as Ruby did. Ruby suffered but now she does have her happy ending. She found her good place in this world.:hugs::lovecat2::winkcat:

The story! Lol The next part is coming!
The video. Hmmm. Actually I am rarely able to get posted music videos either. I may get one but after the first one I usually can’t view a second one. I don’t know why that happens but it started after our update. Perhaps coincidental. It’s kind of frustrating when I want to listen to a lot of posted music though. Sometimes I can sign out and then back in to get more to play. I usually have to go into YouTube myself and type in the name of the video to see it. Perhaps it is just a glitch or limitation in my own system.:dunno:
That video of the kitties did play for me! Oddly, videos here on this thread usually will play for me. :runaround: I’m glad they do though cuz that was ADORABLE! From floof to floofless and every color of the rainbow, I just wanted to snuggle every one of those kitties! That kitten that is laying on it’s back and sleeping as the mom looks on was too precious! Awwww, awww and awww again! Lol I think I awwwed continuously through each kitty I saw. Hey! I think I might have been doing a human purr!:cloud9: I want to do that again! I have a feeling that M maggiedemi will love the rainbows on the video!

Furballsmom Furballsmom Thank you! I definitely did want to put out a positive message in the face of any and all harsh circumstances. I saw so many people here trying to save cats but facing financial, emotional and physical difficulties but also being criticized by neighbors, friends or family for exerting huge effort to do the rescues. It’s not easy to see harsh reality and take action to enact change without a support system or some relief from the stress. I wanted to hug everyone who posted for help. I also wanted to give support through any resources I could find and, at the end of the day, after all the battles were done for the day, I wanted to give a little comic relief. A smile to end or start a day can help us all. Everyone who comes to this thread has had a battle in one form or another. Everyone here is also the support system for all the others. Hopefully, if someone comes to tell a hard story, I can offer a positive spin on things? Hopefully.
Eiptome? I like that! Lol I take negativity, punch it down and then step on it so I have a nice ladder to reach a better thought. The only problem with that is getting all the leftover the goo off my shoe. I solved that by wearing washable shoes.;)
We doo get caught with a loop of thoughts in our head. I find that being sad keeps us frozen in place but getting mad can move us to action. Sometimes the simplest solution for me is to reach out and DO something positive. It may just be a kind word to someone on the street, someone online or it may be sending a positive thought. Some days it’s sharing resources I have found or linking one person to another who can provide more than I can provide. Other days I make a call to others who may need a lift in the way of helpful info or I might travel to another location to physically assist. I can’t tell you how many times I just have a wave to someone at the store or post office. I always get a returned wave and I know that under their mask, the person is smiling. Me too. Although we cannot give hugs in public right now, we can say “Good morning!” We can also come here and give online hugs, hell, sympathy, empathy and , my favorite thing of all, a silly grin. Laughter heals us as we share it and heal others. As we give, we get. When all else fails, walk outside or open the window and look up. Such a vast and amazing sky! Something beautiful is somewhere nearby. Deep breath and look at a cat. The world has problems but we are all in this together. We are not alone and we gain strength from each other. If anyone needs my strength, as long as I have it, it is theirs too. I will lean on them as they lean on me and together we are stronger. If negativity gets the upper hand, just imagine putting your palm against it and then do a “High five!” I win! :banana2:Time for a banana dance. I mean that literally! If you visualize an old lady doing a banana dance, you will surely grin.
Thank you for understanding what I hope to do. I am very lucky that Sarah taught me how to smile when the chips are down. I know she and all the kitties would want me to keep that going.
:heartshape:That’s how I try to honor them and all here.

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose I very glad you are feeling a bit better. I do know how hard it can be to keep up the pace in the face of adversity. You are doing a great job with all that you do and I am grateful to you for being a kitty advocate. As change comes, you will be helping others here through similar circumstances so... hang in there! You are needed.

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 I have had some purebreds and loved them. I had an Abyssinian when Sarah was young. The family that had purchased her could no longer devote time to her. She was given to us in order for her to get the attention she deserved. They did the right thing for her. She was very sweet and very beautiful.

I was thinking today about individual breeds and had a thought. Only a couple of breeds can be in homes where people are cat lovers but also very allergic! Sphinx cats! If any cat could be hypoallergenic, it would be that one! If I remember right, Russian Blues are supposed to be hypoallergenic as well due to the structure of their coat.

Scamper! Lol Beetlejuice!:flail:The first call is,” did I hear that?” The second call is,” the human wants me?” The third is,” Food and love! I must magically appear!”
Full on stroking down the spine? IDK. Some here like it and some don’t. Bonjure still thinks of himself as a kitten and I always imagined he tolerated full head to tail massages because he wanted Mom type caresses/grooming. Lol Mackie allows it but ripples. Lol BJ would allow and enjoy anything and everything. The only thing I hesitate to do with BJ is a tummy massage and that’s because my nose get offended. I massage it anyway.:running:I guess I could wear a mask! He always smiles when I do it though.

We left our Banjo hoping good things and a little magic would happen for another kitty as it had for her and her family. She’s got such a kind heart! I think that is what brought Froggie into her life.
The very first thing Banjo had to do was to learn a little about magic. She read up on it by going online and borrowing BJ’s new hat. Time to start practicing!

She had read that many magicians pull rabbits from hats!

She gave it a try.

Hmmm. What do you cats think!

Sniff, sniff.

Well Banjo, pretty good but it doesn’t smell like a real rabbit.

It has BIG ears like a rabbit!

As we all know, Whisle is afraid of rabbits with big ears!

Scary!

Wait a minute...

I can see into the hat!

Something isn’t right.

Where is the rest of the rabbit?

It’s just ears?

I still don’t like big ears and what happened to the rest of the rabbit?

It’s definitely not in there.

I think that Banjo better practice some more.

Aaaargh! So Banjo tried for a baby rabbit.

This time...

She worked harder...

Kept trying...
1DA3B781-70BF-47F8-9F9C-7E1D354BA05B.jpeg

And didn’t give up.
63D713FC-4E13-4AB0-B2E0-12F2B7F1DE4C.jpeg

It worked! She pulled a baby rabbit out of the hat!
08730599-4CA8-402D-BDE6-5CC8E1323CED.jpeg

Although pleased, she knew she would have to do better than that but at least she had learned a little magic!
111987A3-679E-4B87-AFC0-2EF333AFD6B1.jpeg

It would have to be better magic though. Maybe with a little help? She was determined to keep trying. Who could she turn to?

Will Banjo ever succeed? Stay tuned!

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I have been a bundle of nerves lately. I do joke and try to keep things lighthearted, but things have a way of manifesting. These are troubling times. I hope this dark cloud gets lifted soon. 🌫⛅🌤🌞

Lari Lari  I can just picture that! So adorable. Maybe running around is kitten yoga. I bet the kittens had a wonderful time. “Look kittens! It’s a human maze!” No downward facing Dog. Just upward facing kittien.
Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose We are probably all feeling a bit of a cloud. Some more than others. I know many here who face troubling times and our hearts go to you and all others. Maybe that video made you laugh? I did. Prsyers, hopes and good vibes go out to you too. Thank you!

BellaGooch BellaGooch Thank you for adding your support too!

We left Banjo last night practicing! Lol I just could not resist. Banjo? If you can pull a rabbit out of a hat, can you make something disappear too?

Hmm. I don’t know but that’s an interesting idea. I’m always up for a challenge! Challenges like this require some help though.

Muffin? Would you be my beautiful assistant?

Well, when you put it that way, how can I say no?!?!

Okay. Just let me use my magic cat blanket. All kitties love being under a snuggly blanket.

Now just let me cover you up and hold on.

Aiieeee! It worked! I don’t see Muffin!

Heh! Does Banjo know that I’m in the living room? She sent me somewhere good. She’s going to be a great rescuer one day!

Dear Muffin! She knows that it’s always important to support the loving hopes and dreams of others.
