Buffster7 Buffster7 Sleep? Lol Actually, the cats have ac in their rooms so..... I stayed with them. They were kind enough to invite me to a slumber party. It was pretty funny. They are used to joining me but having me come into the cat room was new. They liked it too. Lady slept on my head! I had a giant size kitty comforter. Lol

I have AC again today. Yay!

BTW mom, May I suggest some catnip nail polish?

Lol Don’t worry! I didn’t really let BJ get any nail clippings. I had actually been pinching back the catnip in the garden. He wouldn’t stop nibbling my fingers! I think we’ll have a good batch of catnip this year. I’ve washed my hands repeatedly but I’m still attracting kitties! :catman:

Have a great night everyone! :happycat:

Does catnip make any of yours aggressive? Charlie gets the best high from it, but poor guy hasn't had any in ages because it puts Finn in attack mode. I don't think it's play attack, either. Once I sprinkled it in the rug they lay on and noticed a distinct improvement in his behavior after I had vacuumed it all up. They've never had fresh catnip, though. Look forward to seeing pics of stoned kitties soon!

Hmmm growing catnip. Maybe next year. I wonder if I'd attract the neighborhood cats (though I haven't seen any in a long while...don't know if there are any.)
Waffles loves catnip, he has a great time when I put it on the Ripple Rug. But the others, no reaction.

Buffster7 Buffster7 I do have a couple of kitties that act TOO excited/aggressive after catnip. As with any plant, potency is also a bit unpredictable. Some catnip seems to be weak. Some stuff strong. You could try different brands but Finn may just be over stimulated by it. It could also have been related to his adjusting in his new enviroment. Not sure. Growing it yourself can tell you that no chemicals are added externally. Soil, water, sun, heat can all play a part. When I had outside cats, the catnip bed stayed flattened. Lol The cats rolled in it. I think everything in moderation is a good idea too. I found a couple of good videos. This first one also has Valerian root. I have never used that and would have questions about it. Recently I decided not to use that in a calming product for Wanda Heart. I was interested to see the cats react to it in the following video.

When I first bought my boy his first catnip kickaroo, he was so exited when it arrived and was eager to get it out from the package. After opening the package, he attacked it and salivate lots and play with it just for a few times and then it was left on the shelf.

Wgen I give him dry catnip leaves, he just eats them and there’s no effect on him:dunno::lol:

Lari Lari Some of my kitties don’t care about catnip either. Fresh or dried. :dunno: I like growing it too though. I pinch back the new growth to get the plants to branch out better and I bring the kitties the tips. That’s why BJ was growing crazy over my fingernails. Lol I had pinched it with my nails.

pearl99 pearl99 If you grow it, they may come! At least the ones that like it!:dizzycat:

tabbytom tabbytom As I understand it, the smell produces one effect and eating another. I find that if I leave it out, the cats lose interest after a while. If I just bring it out once in awhile, I get more interest. Some of my cats even like to eat the dried form. I bought some catnip bubble liquid. When I blow the bubbles, whether the cats like catnip or not, they all love chasing the bubbles.

Cole and Marmalade!! That vid made me grin - the last part where Marmalade looked stoned. Those last calming chews I tried that worked so well on the cats had valerian root - effective but best used sparingly! Love that you're growing the catnip in the garden...that WILL make for some good pics! ;)

You know, this reminds me of the way my big boy acts when he smells it. In fact, there is a product that my hairstylist uses on my hair that I swear must smell like catnip, because he does the SAME thing - he'll come rub his head all over my hair and drool in it! Exactly what I want when I've just had my hair colored. Then it's time to withdraw, because his teeth make an appearance. But..identical to how he acts with catnip! I forgot all about it til you mentioned the drooling. I wonder if the catnip in the toy got old quickly and that's why yours lost interest? I've bought some toys that seemed to age quickly and they lost interest. Fresh catnip...oh the joy of fresh catnip... ;)

tabbytom tabbytom I haven’t tried the catnip spray yet but I bet these kitties would like it. What happens if you accidently spray yourself! :catrub:

pearl99 pearl99 Your garden is beautiful. I love butterfly weed and Clematis are always gorgeous. I have the native form of Clematis but it’s not as showy as the hybrids. Sunflowers are always a favorite.

These kitties love the bubbles. It’s always fun. I got some from Petsmart the other day. The brand is yoy Gold and it produces stronger bubbles than the last brand I used. I have been blowing the bubbles in front of a fan and they have floated all the way down the hall. Whistle is very confused about where they go when they hit the wall. He keeps looking in the next room for them to come back out. All the cats are in on this! :flail:Very good on a rainy day when cats were getting into things.

A rainy day. The cats aren’t interested in watching from the windows. No wind to get the moss blowing so....

What are the ferals thinking now.....

I don’t get the fascination humans have with TV.

It must not be too fascinating. This human is asleep!

Tearing up the paper towels was pretty good.

The roll is nearly gone though.

Let’s open this drawer and see what’s inside.

Dropping everything on the floor is kind of fun. I know Mom hid a bag of treats in here. Oh! Here they are!

Uh oh. That made noise.

Well hi Mom! Do you have a headache? I was just waiting here to take care of you!
(Such considerate kitties!)

Look! I got the Tylenol out for you.
FEC8E1F8-1570-45EA-93E5-EB077B2ED86B.jpeg

Treats? There was a bag of treats in the drawer? Huh. Didn’t see them!

I didn’t need the Tylenol but I guess I need a new hiding place for the treats. Again. And another roll of paper towels. :heartshape:
