~shudders delicately~ You do know that's only an hour or so past my bedtime?pest: 5203532 said:I fell asleep and didn't wake up till 9AM!
I am looking around at the kitties here and reminded how far they have come. From the wet and dangerous place filled with troubles for them, to the amazingly sweet and affectionate fur babies before me.
Me five and Me-ow!Me four.
Jcatbird I haven't really posted much lately on the site, but I still follow the threads daily. I am still so devastated over my Mittens passing. There are days that I want to just hide and stay in bed. Life is just so cold.
Anyway, enough about me. That is not why I signed in tonight to post.
I just read your latest post and just had to respond. My poor Wanda Heart!
I love all your kitties, of course, but you know that Wanda Heart holds a very special place in my heart. To even think that she may be ill at all has me heartbroken. I love her as if she was my own kitty. I can't explain why, it is just something about her, she is so precious to me. I look at her big sweet innocent eyes and just want to hug her and never let go. Maybe because she is a ginger kitty, like my Mittens. Maybe because she was so ill when you rescued her. I don't know. Maybe because she seems so shy, also like Mittens.
I find lysine to work very well. I know some people says that it don't work for their kitties, but I always found it worked for mine. I also got the gel form. My kitties would never eat any medicine added to their wet food, so I could never use the powder form. They wouldn't eat the treat form either.
Mittens would lick the gel form right off my finger. It always helped him.
I hope it works as well with Wanda Heart. I will pray that her blood work comes back good.
I do hope all your other kitty family is doing well. Yes, BJ will look out for all of you. He is your little caretaker and protector. My Shadow is like that.
He always followed Mittens around, making sure he was okay. I always say that Shadow is my little protector.
Oh, for all that offered your condolences about my Mittens on this thread, I want to thank each and everyone of you. It means a lot to me that you care.
I did finally post a tribute to him in crossing the bridge. It was hard to do, but he deserved to have a tribute and be remembered. It is titled My Healing Kitty, Mittens. The anniversary of my Mickey's passing was also recently. He passed six years ago and I still miss him every single day.
I would love to adopt another kitty for myself and Shadow, as he is so lonely without a kitty friend.
Give all your kitties extra cuddles from me, and a ton of cuddles for my sweet Wanda Heart!
Let her know how much I love her and want her healthy always!

Thank you to you all! Also to Hekitty!
I finally got the test results on the blood work. It’s okay. No elevated counts or low ones! Wanda Heart is still feverish and acting very anxious. She’s not eating well but I pulled out all my feral catching foods. She rejected baby food, tuna, ham, tuna, Carl Buddig ham and ever flavor of cat treat. Finally, I got out the chicken breast that is canned in water. She lapped up every drop of liquid! Since this is respiratory, I am sure scent is affected but she is staying hydrated so that’s huge! It’s a lively game of hide and seek at medicine time but, we are managing. The vet called me herself today to check in and discuss everything. It seems that Wanda Heart has captured a lot of hearts there. The vet techs chimed in on the phone call with Get well wishes. Lol That was very comforting to Wanda Heart. I do love that vet and staff. Although they had graciously put us on the Spay schedule, we are in total agreement that we postpone it now. They have left a spot open in a couple of weeks but will delay it again if my “gut” tells me it’s not time. Did I mention that they let me stay with Wanda Heart the whole time at the vets? We didn’t have to wait in the car before hand either. I guess they trust my gut instincts too. I wish every vet and staff could be like this. I think we are very, very lucky.
I had to run my van in to have a check on the oil light today. Just a reset but while I was out, I went to find some goodies for Wanda Heart. I looked at some calming treats but the ingredients worried me a bit. One had Valerian in it with hemp and passion vine? Hmmmm. Another had Chamomile with Skullcap? Nope! Not for us. The Chamomile was fine but some of the other ingredients can have side effects that were worrisome to me. Since I have spent a lifetime of studying plants, I know that how a plant grows and the strength of the chemicals in it are affected by sun, soil, water, harvesting time, preparation methods etc. etc. skullcap can affect the respiratory system, so no on this for Wanda Heart right now. Valerian can have a stimulative effect rather than calming so.... no again! I have had Skullcap and Passion flower growing wild around me and I have never seen a cat use either medicinally so, that’s enough for me to reject these products at this time. Maybe I am missing out on great stuff but I decided to take a different route. When I saw this, it certainly seemed to fit the situation and it’s a method I have used many times to calm motherless kittens. It’s a page taken straight from my heart. BUT, will Wanda Heart agree?
A long drive but

Something new? Should I look or run?

Tortie checks it for safety.

This heart produces little thumps like the beating heart of a momma kitty. Since I can’t stick Wanda Heart in a large shirt pocket now, this could be a substitute!

Wanda Heart is a bit stand offish but Callie checks it and seems to have given her approval as top lady cat in the room.

With the beating heart placed inside the kitty, I watch and wait.

I hear the heart!

I can share my scent with it.

I hear it through the box.
View attachment 345086
It sounds like kind of nice. Somebody get it out of the box.
View attachment 345087
Is it going to run Callie?
View attachment 345088
I don’t think so.

You big girls see what if you like it.

I give it the Alley approval Wanda Heart!

Are you a cat?

You look like a cat.

Will you stay with me like my mommy did? I love you!

Wow! Wanda Heart put her face against it like a kitten with her mom cat!! She totally relaxed with it and made biscuits against it the way a kitten would when snuggling mom! Awww! This is so sweet! I never got a chance to put the little warming pads inside it but if I had motherless kittens I would definitely use this to give comfort. In fact, any age kitty! Bingo! We have a winner! I guess we need a kitty name for the new member of the Clowder!
Now that Wanda Heart is settled with her Heart kitty, I am going to bed! I hope you all smiled as much as I did!
Wanda Heart approved!
