tabbytom tabbytom I love being in a greenhouse environment but being able to plant outside is nice. I can imagine that the display there was quite a treat. I am actually working towards restocking my greenhouse. I shared many of my orchids with a friend years ago. My plants were destroyed but the person I shared with is hoping to bring me divisions of my plants soon. I hope it works out. If it does, I’ll try to share some interesting photos with you.

rubysmama rubysmama The auto settings are great! I loved having that option. Once you figure out f stops etc. it all makes sense and does give you a way to manipulate the light and depth of field. If you reach a point where you would like an easy backdrop to use behind things, I always carried a piece of black velvet with me in my camera bag. It doesn’t reflect light badly so it’s nice to use to set off a flower or small subjects. It’s not easy to use with white flowers though. Lol Exposures get a little tricky.
They did name daylillies well. I love them because they bloom a lot but they are gone too quickly. I used to belong to several flower organizations. Day Lilly Society, Camellia Society and Orchid Society. That’s a good way to accesss some nice flowers. Members are usually happy to let you photograph their flowers and if you’re lucky, they share some. :yess:Most places here have some form of garden club. I’ve seen some very wild looking flowers over the years.

Froggie was very brazen! He wasn’t even scared!

N NY cat man I definitely want a bulb bit! I can see using it for lots of small garden chores besides bulb planting. I have a small area where I put some annual seeds each year that just needs loosening up but with my shoulder acting up I haven’t done it yet. I think that would do the trick very quickly and with little pulling on my shoulder.

BTW tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I am using the rice in a sock trick and it really helps! Much better than my heating pad!

Lari Lari :flail:Derpy tongue Lady is right! She looks so silly doing that. I always laugh at cat tongues. I love the term Derpy tongue! You inspired tonight’s post!

Froggie is so smitten with Banjo. I think he knew she would protect him though. She is a smitten kitten herself. No other cat was near him when I came in. They were watching but not trying to approach. Froggie has come in a couple of times in the past without issue but I was near. Mitsy and Whistle will also protect him. I guess it’s a family trait.
How is the turtle romance going?

We get lots of cute kitty tongues here but I think Derpy tongue is the best! They don’t show up as often but when they do, I laugh.

Here are some kitty tongues.

It appears to be put on hold for the moment. We moved into our new house Friday, and there's a lot of exploring to do. Then again, there's nothing else really in the room where Myrtle is/spare room for now, so maybe Lelia's sneaking in when I'm not noticing.

Yes, we have two super big greenhouse that is fully airconditioned so that the temperate flowers and tress and shrubs can survive.

This piece of water is actually a river (Singapore River) and have been converted into a fresh water lagoon. The two domes are part of The Gardens By The Bay Project which houses the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest Dome. Behind it is the iconic Marina Bay Sands Casino and Hotel and the Singapore Eye on the right (Ferris wheel - world tallest I think..........)

The new house?!?!? How exciting! I hope the move wasn’t too rough. I know the kitties are exploring their new territory but I would be willing to bet that Lelia is checking on Myrtle. But maybe she knows that Myrtle has her own portable house so there’s no exploring to be done there.

The Domes are extraordinary! I would love to see that! The waterfall inside is beautiful. I think the cloud forest area would be my favorite but I would have a hard time deciding. I can only imagine all the delightful things that can be seen there.
Have you been on that Ferris wheel? The view from up there must be wonderful.

We don’t have anything like that here. The skyline there is very beautiful. You photographed it beautifully too! It looks so very peaceful there. :redheartpump::thanks:I will end my day with that vision on my mind!

Thank you.

Yes, I've been up on that Ferris wheel. Its a million dollar view from up there and the scene is most beautiful when you do the night ride.

Below is the link to the website but I don't know why the link is just a slash. You can try clicking on it or click on the other links.

I found it! I will be able to see a lot of the garden and surrounding area. The Cloud Mountain is a work of art.

I hadn’t thought about the view from the Ferris Wheel at night!😍 That must be magical. You can almost touch the stars!
If I can ever travel again, that is one place I would love to see. For now, it makes a purrfect place to dream about.

That's why its called Gardens By The Bay and for your info, it's all built on reclaimed land. We are a small country and we do land reclamation to extend our land mass within our port limits and turn bodies of sea water into fresh water lakes as we don't have natural resources like fresh water lakes.

Look at all those cute kitty tongues! Hmmm... wonder if Ruby wants to pose for some tongue pics. :p

Okay, I think I've seen it all now. I was just cleaning the 2 upstairs litter boxes. I finished one and was working on the other when Miss Eleanor came in, stuck her nose in the freshly cleaned box, climbed in, and proceeded to hack up a hairball. Now, if only the other 5 were as considerate....................

tabbytom tabbytom Using reclaimed land is excellent. That was a great use of that land. I wish every place would do something so beautiful with reclaimed land. In the middle of this state they used to mine kaolin. Towards the end of the mining they did fill the pits but many were left just as they had been after the mining had pulled out the usable kaolin. Reclaiming for something like that garden would be wonderful.

This photo was taken from the bottom of a pit. The bands of soil still hold a little of the white kaolin. The mining no longer continues there and the town nearby struggles without the resource and the income it produced. These pits had previously been farm land. Erosion makes it difficult for plants to gain a perch. The holes fill with water but it’s dangerous to go into the area because the clay holds tight to anything of any weight that steps there. There is a lesson to be learned from the example of the Gardens by the Bay.

rubysmama rubysmama The velvet works very well. I mostly used the black but had a piece of red and blue too. It tends to sort of absorb and unwanted reflections of light even with flash.

Cat tongues! Lol I hope Ruby will oblige. Lol

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Cats normally look so regal. I think that’s why I love the derpy tongue look. They rarely look silly but when they do, they do it better than anyone!

N NY cat man Miss Eleanor was very considerate! That’s much better than what Lady does. Although Lady is either being considerate or making a statement. She puts all her hair balls in her food dish. :eek2:

Any unused mine lays many dangers as the soil is unstable.

Our land reclamation was done many years ago and it took like 15 - 20 years after before they started planting buildings there. This is to stabilize the soil to make sure it doesn't sink with all that load.

Being a tiny island city, it's easier to expand our borders a little as our population is growing. Our city developers (Government Agency) has very good foresight. They plan things way way ahead.

tabbytom tabbytom It has been decades since those mine were abandoned. I’m not sure how stable it will ever be now since just below are deposits of limestone. All the centuries of hard clay above it were stripped away. Perhaps the areas that were refilled had the clay replaced. I don’t know but nothing but grass grows there to this day. The places are called sinkholes now. The walls collapse at times and the ground shifts. 50 years ago the children used them as swimming holes but the dangers became painfully apparent. They are closed to people now but some still trespass. There is one area that is filled with ancient deposits of fossils and artifacts. It is unique and there have been studies there by Universities. The creek bed there is solid limestone and the history of the ocean floor is beautifully preserved. I was able to go there with a scientist. It’s an astounding thing to see. Sand dollars are stone statues there now along with imprints of other creatures and plants. Embedded in the creek, we can see what that ocean floor looked like in the days when the water covered the land. There , in the woods just above, are caves that hold the history of the people that lived near. Clay pots, stone tools and other evidence of human life. The plant life there is of both south and north since it is at the fall line. The diversity holds great interest for me. I am glad that it is no longer being disturbed by mining. May nature reclaim her land.
Your city planners were very wise in their hopes for the future there. They prepared and it has come to fruition.

Guess as long as it is not taken care off and no safety is put in place to develop it, it'll succumb to natural erosion and therefore it may still be unsafe.

Yes, they plan well for the future and they plan ahead at least 20 years ahead. That's why our country can progress well.

Hi Jcatbird Jcatbird Glad to hear your shoulder pain is feeling better. I know pain all too well , no fun at all. I just love how you write the perfect expressions with each of your photos. You speak for your kitties very well. A great kitty writer!
Thanks so much on the condolences on my Mittens passing. Yes , my heart is truly broken. He was such a sweetie and deserved so much more. He was barely 10 years old. He deserved more time. I tried my best , but still feel I didn't do enough. I have not even posted on the "crossing the bridge" forum yet. I know that I will one day , but not yet. I can't seem to let him go just yet , to say a final good bye. I cry uncontrollably just remembering that he is gone.
Thanks for the wonderful photos of Lady and Wanda Heart.
Such beauties!
Of course , I know each kitty would be missed. I was just joking ( hope you know that ) . Maybe Wanda and Lady could just come for a visit? Lol
Tell Wanda Heart she can bring her pink bunny.
Playtime? Of course! The kitties would love it here. I have so many toys and cat beds and trees for many kitties.
I still have one cat , but he is so lonely without Mittens. They were very close. My Shadow always looked out for Mittens and took care of him.
Love your kitty tongues pictures!
So adorable when they show you their cute pink tongues!
Lovely pictures of all the flowers that you and others have posted.
I just love carnations , mini ones are my favorite , in red or pink.
My husband likes to buy me red roses , and I keep telling him red carnations. He knows red is my favorite color. Guess he just thinks roses are nicer.
Lari Lari Congratulations on your new house!
May you and your husband and kitties too be very happy in your new home.
tabbytom tabbytom and Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Thanks so much on your condolences on the passing of my Mittens!
Your kindness means a lot to me.
M maggiedemi Sorry didn't mean to catnap your Lady.
I will settle for just Wanda Heart then. She can be mine , as she is not spoken for yet. Orange kitties have a special place in my heart. My Mittens was an orange and white kitty.
Jcatbird Jcatbird Yes , some of your kitties may go missing. Don't worry , though.
They are just visiting. They will always return to you. You are their mom.
All your kitties are so loved and I don't think any kitty can have too much love.
I will love all your kitties from afar , even my Wanda Heart and maggiedemi's Lady.
Looking forward to more of your kitty pictures.
Give my Wanda Heart a hug. I am sending a big hug back to her and her new pink bunny!
