You inspire me. It's almost like the saying that it all begins with a single step...You take the first step and maybe God helps you with the next step.
This is what my dad told me, "Let each small triumph be a stepping stone to the next triumph. All to often, those who "rest on their laurels" are simply sitting on something quite different."it’s what happened when I stood up and took that first step. It is a step at a time and everyone can do something. I do believe that things are helped along. Some would call it reaction to an action, positive energy, karma, luck, or God. I happen to have great faith. So many things have turned out well for me in the end that defied all logic. I just want everyone to take positive action towards good. It makes the world better for every living creature. It really does start with a single step .Thank you.
In following this thread, I find it regrettable that TNR-ing the kids is not a possibility- dang!My rescue friend got some literature for kids, she said she was thinking about taking it to the local school. She asked me if I thought it would help. I said it was worth a try. I think it is worthwhile to try and teach them. At any rate I do not have time to do it and I know my rescue friend is already giving all she can to the cause as well. I do not believe a one time speaker will change the culture, but it might plant a seed in one child's mind. So worthwhile, yes, but not something I can take on.
Oh, that sounds exciting. They have a chance at new funding. They have asked me to help to obtain it. I am going to give it all i’ve got! They need me to tell the story of my cat friends. I don’t know if I can do the story justice. It has to be in writing. Sometimes words and vision fail me but if I can help their cause then I must try.
Cute pictures. Someone, whose name escapes me, once said"The more people I meet, the better I like cats."Okay you guys! You are cracking me up! Mamanyt1953 You are soooo right! Resting on your laurels will just leave bumps in your bum.
N NY cat man I once heard about a cat that was great with feral teens. Maybe you need to borrow that kitty instead!
Norachan The mental image has made me laugh again. Thank you! M maggiedemi the post from mamanyt1953 is spot on! If we just keep going then things happen.
surya I am thinking about you tonight and hoping for your world to shift into a better place.
Things are shifting here and I want everyone to know that over these last months I never had any reason to hope for things to change for the better. None! No reason to ever expect anything other than continued struggle. Don’t get me wrong, I still have to keep working and I still get tired and frustrated but then unexpected things pop up. Just when you least expect things to get better for the cat world you are handed new hope. Today I got a call. You all know that the local county animal shelter has been trying to make great changes and that they helped me with some spays and neuters. Their battle is ongoing. Funding is gone but hope is on the horizon. They have a chance at new funding. They have asked me to help to obtain it. I am going to give it all i’ve got! They need me to tell the story of my cat friends. I don’t know if I can do the story justice. It has to be in writing. Sometimes words and vision fail me but if I can help their cause then I must try. If we can accomplish this together then it is another step forward for the kitties and all who hope to help them. I admit to being nervous. I don’t want to fail. Please send good luck and the power of words and sight our way. I’ll let you know if they get the help they need.
Now I am hoping for a small smile to end our night. The kitties never fail!
I have been accused of having overfrd a cat or two in the past so........ when I saw this a thought flashed through my mind. Here it is.
How do you keep your kitties from getting fat? You teach them to do push ups. How do you do that? You put their food dish on rain soaked grass. This is how it worked out. Or, the kitten worked out.
Ewww! The grass is wet!

Maybe you smiled a little at the kitty like I did.
No contest. Cats win.N NY cat man I have heard that sentiment from many people! Lol How can we compete with the unconditional love, personality, and laughter! I think many people here would understand that thought. Hopefully some cat lovers will come close to measuring up.
I just want to express a feeling here about the most devoted of cat lovers. Ready to give all they have to their most trusted companions, they love them as completely and deeply as love exists. I truly admire this. I see that demonstrated here on thecatsite. It warms my heart and gives me hope that the world will not turn it’s back on the lost, abandoned, neglected or abused. I applaud every one of these people. Some are outspoken about it and others work quietly from the shadows. I know about both. Those of you who work quietly in the corners, please know that you also play a huge part in the wonderful world of cats. Thank you to all. You keep me energized when I get tired. When I write the upcoming story of the cats you have been following here, know that you are all part of it. If funding is awarded because of the recitation of the story, then it is won by you all and for all. Just had to let you all know of my great appreciation for all who have posted or written. For tonight I just want to share some kitten love and smiles!
Me too. I was brought up on a small dairy farm, back in the 50s.( yeah, I'm THAT old!) Our nearest neighbor lived about a half-mile away, and the nearest kid my age was closer to 2 miles away. Lots of animals, kids- not so much.N NY cat man i do get it! They win here too.I was raised with more critters than people. I guess you could say that I was raised by cats! They have never let me down.
Funny thing, living on a farm, we had a series of dogs- all mutts- , but never a cat.N NY cat man So you could say we grew up very much the same. I started out on an island with a Blue Smoke cat and Siamese kitties and then in farm territory with a Manx and alley cats. Sea shells and country critters! I am a lover of nature and animals. Cats topping my list of course. The cats were my primary playmates, friends, confidants, escorts and caregivers as I was theirs. We had all sorts of other animals around when we lived in the country but the cats were always near me. Remember Hot Wheels cars? We lived in a very old two story house. As a child of the Mattel era, I did have Barbie but Hot wheels were something I could share with the cats. I rigged a ramp going from the uppermost point in our house, down the stairs, around two stair landings, down the rest of the stairs and straight out the front door. The car would practically fly and cats were right behind it! The fastest cat caught the car every time. Sometimes I had to retrieve cat and car from the bushes as the cat had retreated with the prey! Lol Poor car was terribly scratched but very well loved by child and felines. We spent hours running up and down those old stairs. On one occasion the car exited the house ,with cats in tow, just in time to fly past the mailman. The mail became airborne. I was forgiven when he had a moment to take in what he had witnessed. He even took a turn at the top of the stairs. Apparently he loved the flight of the cats too. (Or the car) I know he left smiling. Not such a bad thing being raised by cats during that time in the world. They were great kitties and I still remember each one with love. My oldest and dearest friends and family. My country cats were Little One,Little Bit ( Calicos) Misty the Manx, Smudges and Stripes the grey tabbies, Copper the orange tabby and Socks who was black and had white feet. May they ( and the island Siamese) all still have wings on their feet!
Now for a current kitty update! Thrasher the untouchable is now wandering my living room with my other cats. A little nervous but now coming out around new people. Today she fell in love with a flea comb! Lol
Thrasher gaining confidence!View attachment 248212
Thrasher content to lay beside me on the floor after a combing.
