my cat 10 months and not steralized yet is a very sweet cat but atleast to me she sleeps with me always, licks me, rubs against me. but she is also very scared of everybody else in my family like even to me she always wants to be left alone. she really hates guests. i dont know if shes unsocialised and my whole family tried so hard to socialise her but i really dont know and i want the best for her. sometimes when i pet her and shes even purring and everything she hisses or when i pick her up she hisses but she seems fine. idk what to do i tried leaving her alone and stuff but she doesnt like that much petting or being picked up. i also took her to the vet because maybe i thought she was in pain but the vet said shes very healthy.

she is probably just one of those cats that like attention on their own terms not yours. her hissing(its a warning) is just a way to tell you to quit iwth all that nonsense you should pay attention to that to since her next "leave me alone" message will probably be a bite or good clawing to your hand/face whatevers in reach. my cat graycie is like that hates being picked up likes to be left alone she is lovable on her terms which is fine with me i can accept that. with your cat though i think you should learn to just accept her as she is and understand she might just not like all the affection you try to give her. as for your family if they are trying to grab/force their attention/affection onto her at all times for example is she is sleeping they go bug her then its no wonder she doesnt like em. just allow her to come to you on her terms for pets etc. knowing she hates being picked up dont even try to pick her up and sooner or later i bet she will jump onto your lap while your watching tv for a nap once she doesnt need to worry about getting picked up

I suggest you look at all the cat articles on this site. I have a lap cat,a cat that decides when she wants to be petted or not,a cat that is territorial. A cat is a mammal just like people so they have feelings. Right now, your cat is a teenager! Some cats do not like someone higher than them walking towards them or more startled

Hi
Do you have an appointment to get her spayed? It could help even out her temperament with you and your near family.

However, she may always remain shy with strangers. A lot of cats are like that :)
