My cat scratches his eye a couple times, its usually while playing or scratching somewhere near his eye (it's never serious, don't worry) I heard that saline solution helps out, so I bought some today, his eye is healed now but I'm not sure whether it'll start to hurt again or not. If you have any tips on how to stop him from scratching his eye, please tell me. I'm also wondering if saline solution actually works? It mostly says its safe, but I'm not sure.

These are the drops I got, are these safe for my cat? I can also specify what it contains if asked. Thank you.

I am not completely sure if you mean that the cat actually has a scratch on/in a part of his eye/eyelid or if he rubs his eyes as if they itch. This product is an isotonic saline solution, so wiping the cat's eyelids with it is probably okay. However, this is not the treatment for scratched eyes and should not be inserted into the eye. If there is any type of an eye injury, this is not the treatment for it.

He scratches his eyelid, he usually cant open it because it hurts. His eye doesn’t seem to be damaged though. Thank you for telling me this, i’ll wipe some on his eyelid and see if it helps, thank you so much!!

If the cat can't open the eye, that is reason enough to take the cat to the vet to be checked out. Eye issues aren't something to try to treat at home. A sterile saline solution (only saline, no preservatives or other stuff in it) won't help the eye if it's infected or the cornea is scratched.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I'm not sure if its still fine if its this way so do tell me but, he scratches his eye accidentally when he's scratching his ear, if that makes any sense. He has sort of a naked spot above his eye where there's not much fur, he scratches that spot, or his eyelid, and gets hurt. It rarely happens anymore, but if this is something I should ask my vet please tell me again. He heals within a day almost always. If not a day, then two. I usually tell my mother after the 2nd day since I get worried, I can tell her to visit the vet needed, since I'm not sure what to think.

We had a cat who accidentally scratched his cornea but we never saw it happen. We ended up having to take him to a veterinary ophthalmology specialist. For that reason we are very conscientious about any health issue regarding the eyes.
