My cat Chitty had been sick for years with cancer but managed to power through .Lately I could tell she wasn't doing good but she was still active and wanted to do what she wanted. She liked sleeping outside on the porch and this last week she insisted on going outside about 6pm. She came back later every day but on the last day she never came back. I'm sure something happened to her. Maybe attacked or she got too sick to make it back home. Anyway that's not the way I wanted to lose my cat, with no closure. I have no idea what happened to her or where she ended up.Plus every time I open the door I'm expecting to see her out there. I had plans on a cremation and a service if something happened, not this.Having a cat die is always stressful but somehow this seems like something I won't get over.

I am so sorry your sweet girl had to leave on her next big adventure. It is even harder when you never had the chance to say goodbye. She wanted to go on her own terms and wanted to spare you the pain of seeing her pass.

Rest you gentle, Chitty, dream you deep. Your purr echoes in someone's heart forever.

SUCH a hard way to lose a cat, where there was no "good-bye," no last, gentle stroke of beloved fur. And it happens more than we know. Cats are prone to deciding the where and when on their own, and for their own reasons. And we are left to wonder, always. But this I can tell you, and it is the Deepest Truth I know...Chitty is now at home in That Place Where All Things Are Known. She knows how sad you are, she knows how much you loved her. And now she blesses you, and she sends her love, translated and purified into Love, back to walk with you down through all of your days. Because Love abides. Always, forever, Love abides.

I am sure she wanted to spare you the pain of seeing her go. She went on her own terms, I hope you can find comfort in that......
It takes a long time to get through the grief that comes with losing a loved member of your family. The pain never goes away but time has a way of dulling the sharp edges. she would never want you to be so sad, just as you would not want her to be sad if you were the first to go. Because she loves you.
We are here to help you climb that hill, to show you there is happiness possible after the grief, that you WILL get through this and we are here to shoulder some of that pain because we have stood in your shoes. Please know that we will keep you in our thoughts, and I will keep you in my prayers.
Right now just get through the present day. Do not dwell on all those should haves could haves, it brings nothing but pain. Do not try to predict a future that is known to no one, live as cats do. They do not fear death like we do, they process it as a natural part of life.
Through your wonderful care and the love you gave her she got to spend many more yearss with you than thought. Continue to love her and send her your thoughts, because she will always be connected to your soul through the bonds of love that is spiritual, so eternal.
"Do not cry because it is over, smile because it happened." One day your grief will morph into a gratitude for the love she gave you. But that day is a long way in the future. So know the sun will rise tomorrow, the moon will shine at night, and the love you shared will be just as eternal. Take one day at a time......RIP precious Chitty. You will forever be remembered, you will always have a secure place in a loving heart. May the good Lord bless and keep you, until you meet again!

I'm sorry for the way things have gone with Chitty. Not knowing for sure what happened would be so difficult. Cats do sometimes go off somewhere to be alone when they know it's time, so that could be what happened with Chitty. If you would be ok with what you might find, you could look around your property and around the neighbourhood, as she may not have gone too far. Sending hugs your way. 🤗

Thanks for all the support. I need that right now. I really don't think Chitty planned on not returning that night. She left ready to have fun but due to her health issues and bad eyesight she must have gotten lost and couldn't make it back. It makes me sad to think of her starving under some bush or maybe an animal attacked her. I'm always going to miss her and be thinking about her every day.

When my old boy was nearing the end (it was clear his systems were shutting down) he asked to go outside one day, he loved sunning on the porch. But this time he left the my place and went a few houses down and hid under a neighbours porch. It was so strange, he never did that before. I did some research and found out that a cat knows they are going to pass they find an out of the way place. and let nature take over. I read that in most cases they go rather quickly and their systems turn off and it is not painful or scary for them. it is a self protection mode. I think she knew it was time and passed quickly and painlessly. I am sorry you weren't allowed closure.
