My cat is going through kidney failture and won't drink water anymore

Me too Treecie .... I myself had nothing to add to the suggestions silent meowlook contributed here,sound advice from someone who has much experience with this.... unfortunately many of us do so it really hits home ,we are here to give you support

My best friend ,my special love of nearly 2decades was diabetic - he required daily insulin later in life and then when he was about your kitties age I thought I was going to lose him( I'm sure you were worried sick too )

We had 7 more years after that so stay encouraged and work closely with your Vet( or see another Vet if you are not confident or dissatisfied in any way).....If he had 20 more years together it would not have been enough,you are in my heart and prayers

Hey all, unfortunately, she is not eating again...but drinking still. The vet finally called me today to schedule a SubQ but I fear it is too late if I can't get her in asap. She has gotten really weak and has to lay down after walking....I'm calling the vet first thing tomorrow morning to see if they can take her in right away but it pains me so much to see her like this.

It breaks my heart to know what you and your beloved kitty are going through - it's an extremely difficult situation- I'm so very sorry

The only thing I can say is you might want to seek a more available Vet with more hours or perhaps a 24hr emergency clinic and please understand I don't know what stage your cat is in- there does come a time when we are only prolonging the inevitable when there are no more treatment options left and have been exhausted..... that's a discussion you must have with your trusted Veterinarian and yourself

I myself havd an excellent Vet,hes taken care of all of my cats for the past 25 yrs and he is now semi retired,his hrs are limited and it is so hard to get to him even for regular visits & follow ups but we have to have an alternative for emergencies or urgent care- with a cat in renal failure appts cannot wait,if you cannot get in then please take her to wherever you can get right away

When the bodies begin to shut down, they stop wanting food and water. I think you did the right thing for your cat as well and I wish you peace.
