so yesterday afternoon at about 4 pm my cat Buddha lost her mucus plug, I’m curious on when she’ll start having contractions and start pushing babies out, I’ve been Keeping a close eye on her and she is pretty calm this is her first litter ever. When should I start to worrying about her health and the kittens.

No need to worry yet! The mucus plug can be lost up to a week ahead of labor, though usually it’s more like 2-3 days.

Do you plan to spay her after this litter?

How is Buddha acting? Are her nipples standing up and waxy? I like to offer several birthing "room" options - closets & cardboard boxes seem to be popular (next to on the bed, preferably with you in it ). I know that there are as many bedding options as there are minds to think of them. Last year, my daughter's cat gave birth to one kitten on my daughter in the bed but she accepted a box in the closet - an old T-shirt on old towels topped by puppypads. If it is her first litter, it would be ideal if you can be in attendance - as a "coach" to give emotional support (experienced moms often prefer privacy). And it is not too soon to research spaying options.
Prayers and vibes for an easy time for Buddha :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
I will keep checking for updates!

Thank u so much! these replies are very helpful, Buddha has been following me around or wants me to follow her, she’s been sleeping and eating still, her nipples are standing up but no milk or waxy feeling I see just a little bit of dried white scabs that she’s been licking, Buddha I’ve had her ever since she was 2 month and we have a very tight bond I’m most definitely going to be right next to her to “coach” her, I think she’s starting to have contractions now, she’s just on her side very calm but u can see movement in her belly it’s insane because she’s a long haired kitty. I will keep an update on how she is doing.

Buddha finally gave birth to 5 beautiful babies, I think she might have one more but it’s been 5 hours since the last one. She’s still panting and breathing really fast. Should I wait it out or take her in?

Wait it out. Give her a dish of kitten formula to drink. It helps to calm her system and she needs the calcium.

Are the kittens all latched and nursing?

She needs comfort from you right now! It’s been a scary, painful process and her body is working hard.
