Meet Omen Ink, aka Omen, my new cat and potential roommate to both Puddles and Winter. He's 4-5 months old and has 6 toes on each foot. He's adorable. He hasn't done much since bringing him home, except eat his food and hide in the litter box. Winter snuck into the bedroom, where he is being contained, and was apparently eating when Winter decided to go say hi. No hissing, but his back was arched and his tail down. NOT a happy cat.

I don't think Puddles has noticed his arrival completely. She's been so nonchalant about everything, LOL!

And Kitty tax:

Congratulations on the new roommate! :clapcat:
Thanks!

Puddles doesn't seem to care there's a new cat in her space, and Winter is excited! Omen is ... lukewarm about being someplace new, but he let himself sniff me today. I go into the bedroom and check on him while the dog waits outside the baby gate. Today Omen didn't arch his back at her. :D

Going to reread the 'how to introduce cats' article on the forum. It had some good information :)

Congrats on your new addition, Omen! :cheerleader: I'm sure he will warm up to Puddles and Winter in time. Everything is still new to him. Please keep us updated with pics as Omen grows up. :camera:

Puddles has taken to sitting beside the baby gate when I have the bedroom door open. That way they can interact yet be separated. She usually just lays there, lounging, while Omen staaaares at her. He's mildly puffed up, but there's no hissing. Tomorrow I start leaving the bedroom door open longer. Winter is a barker and will yapyapyap if she knows there's food involved. Omen seems to be getting used to her barking, and her presence as he's not as frightened of her. Tomorrow I start feeding Omen in Puddles and Winter's presence instead of by the windowsill. Gonna try that for a few days and see how Omen's mood changes.

I have to find my budget letter from disability and send it to the local low-cost spay and neuter clinic. I can get Omen vaccinated and Neutered for like $45. He's supposedly born May 29th or May 31st, so I'm gonna have to neuter him soon. I bet they don't see Polydactyl kitties there often!

Definitely get him neutered soon so he doesn't have temptation to have behaviors with Puddles. That could make their introduction/relationship harder. I'm surprised the place you got him didn't neuter him first.

I agree! And yeah... I was surprised he wasn't neutered, either. Most folks neuter their cats by this age...

Soooooo... Omen's Siamese trait of MEOWing at everything has finally shown through. He's been meowing non stop all day today. He only doesn't when he's around his base camp or eating. It's quite comical, I find. He's also discovered he can jump the baby gate. I said screw it and left the cat door open so he could escape the dog, and I put Winter on a leash.

There's been minimal hissing and growling at Puddles. For the most part, she's like 'I don't give a frik', and although she is NOT happy (Low tail that twitches), She's been nonchalant about Omen. I say this is pretty good at Day 3 :) .

Omen was expanding his territory today/this morning... at 3 am. I tried sleeping in the bedroom but insomnia was biting hard and Winter was wanting to play hard with Omen. Omen wasn't having any of it and backhanded the snot of a dog three times. I had to hang onto Winter's collar to rein her in and that seemed to get Omen in the petting mood. He rolled so much while I gave him attention that he rolled right off the night table, LOL! Then when things seemed to calm down, I let go of Winter's collar and watched while Winter went to politely sniff Omen... and Omen jumped and swatted her so hard she howled (To be fair, she is a drama queen. There were no Injuries.)

Back to holding the dog's collar. Tried to sleep. Wasn't happening... then the bed broke. *&^% it! Went to sleep on the bird room floor and eventually gave up. Thus I'm up writing this out. Then Omen decided to do a more thorough exploration of the apartment. He and Puddles stared at each other and Puddles hissed a bit, but it was long distance and it didn't go any farther than that.

Going to be an interesting next few days...

It seems Omen and Winter are becoming fast friends. There's no more hissing from Omen's side and if Winter gets pushy, all it takes is a swat to keep her in line. She's excited to have a new friend and Omen is comfortable enough to roll on his side around her.

Omen and Puddles... seem to have a working relationship starting. Puddles isn't pleased, but she gives no farts about this strange cat, LOL.

Omen is interested in the birds in that he watches and sniffs them then carries on exploring. Can't wait to get the new cat tree. Gonna be fun watching him and Puddles use it!

And more Polydactyl toesies for tax:

Puddles is not thrilled with Omen, but I **gasp** caught them playing last night! She swatted at him but it was in a non-aggressive manner. Omen also slept beside to the dog and I while Puddles did her own thing. The dog loves Omen and Omen has decided the dog isn't that bad. He's been rolling around on his side around her.

My only complaint about him is that he is sooo curious and playful. He's discovered the artist highway, where I put some of my artwork on a ledge between the kitchen and the living room. He's knocked almost everything off. Sigh. But he's a good boy . Some things I have to work on.

So yeah... a few days ago Omen took a running leap and landed on my microwave cart/art storage dolly and spilled water from the paint container over everything. Water on the keyboard, mouse, wires, note paper, yadda yadda yadda. Good thing I have a replacement keyboard. The old one that got..errr.. 'washed'.. is now stuck in caps lock mode. **Headdesk** .

Also Winter is playing waaaay too rough with Omen, so back on the leash she went. The growling over food with Winter vs the cats has been greatly reduced. Winter gets left in the kitchen and I feed the cats in the bedroom and I close the door. I leave them there for a 1/2 hour. Things are peaceful again, LOL!

Filled out the application for the low-cost spay and neuter program here in town. I wait 5 days to see if I'm accepted. :) If I am, the boy will have his family jewels removed next month (I hope!).

Omen officially gets neutered on November 15th! I got accepted into the low-cost spay and Neuter Program. I have to be up to catch 3 buses, be there before 8:15 am... and pick him up by 3:05 pm. He's gonna be such a trooper, LOL! I thought the vaccinations cost $20 on top of the neutering, but it's the microchip that costs a bit more. The vaccinations, tattoo, and neuter are all for $20. Wow! They're working so hard to get pets Spayed and Neutered out here. I'll gladly do my bit and get Omen's family Jewels removed if it means a bit of an inconvenience for me. ;)
