Meet Galadriel!

Hello, all!

Just got a new baby for free. She is tiny (fits in the palm of my hand), very furry, and has big, sad eyes and buck teeth. She is two and a half years into a thirty-some-odd year lifespan.

Okay, so those buck teeth? They're more like fangs... And she has eight eyes. One for each leg.

Galadriel is an Arizona desert blonde tarantula- pictures will come if I decide to wrestle with my phone. One of my regulars used to be a breeder and sold her collection; she gave me this little beauty for free.

Only the females. Males live about 5 years.

I wouldn't mind having a tarantula, but I have a friend who wouldn't come within 100 feet of my house if I did, lol. So I won't. At least she likes the snakes .

I will be getting another one soon. One of the myriad benefits of working in a pet shop: people go there looking for places to rehome unwanted pets. This new one is a Mexican fire-leg female who will be named Tauriel.

Totally. Although its also amusing as it is a name that people give to fluffy little dogs as a cute thing. Hilarious to use on a tarantula.
