Does anyone else get faint when people start talking about medical conditions?

For example a girl in our office found out her grandma passed away this afternoon. Well we were talking vitals and stuff I was OK with that.

We then started talking about how her parents/our grandparents "went" right before their birthdays. Well she started talking about anuerisms and meningistis. That's when I began to feel ill and needed to sit down before I passed out.

The talk didn't bother me mentally, but for some reason whenever I talk to someone about medical blood and guts I feel the blood drain from my face.

Anyone like this??? Or am i just a weirdo?

Nope, me too. I don't so much feel faint as I just start feeling... just not right. Personally, I feel that whatever goes on with my insides is none of my business, as long as they keep functioning properly. And if something goes wrong with them, I just want it fixed and I don't want any details! Sure, it's a bad attitude to purposely keep myself uneducated, but I just can't deal with it.

The only one i know of like that was my mum with bones. You just had to mention someone had broken a bone in their arms or leg etc... and she would tell you to stop because she was feeling faint.

I broke a bone in my foot several years ago and i was fine until she showed me the x-ray and i started feeling sick

No unless it's a medical condition that has to do with your lungs or heart. Then my chest hurts if someone's talking about it. Other than that I'm fine.

No. I work in a clinical research lab. If talking about conditions bothered me, I'd have to find a new career.

Oh, yeah, I'm definitely like that. I get dizzy and lightheaded and have to sit down (and ask the person to STOP talking about it).

If people are talking about vomiting, and it goes on long enough, sure enough I'll throw up, too.

Guess I'm easily swayed, or too empathetic, I can't figure out which!

Kinda the same for me, I work in nursing, so if I had a problem like that or had a problem giving needles, then I would be looking for a new direction also. Actually giving needles has helped me receive them, once I started giving them, then they did not bother me as much, especially the initial poke.

I am okay hearing about illness but if they start talking out surgeries in detail I get ill.

After working my way through school, in a nursing home and all of those years as a medical assistant and phlebotomist, almost nothing bothers me.

The only thing that ever affected me much, was the video of a SIDS baby's autopsy.

Nope none of that stuff bothers me much. But they maybe because I am more immune to it I suppose. My 5 yr old has had like 5 surgeries since he was a few mths old. My 6 yr old had kidney sugery a few yrs back. And the youngest 3yrs old had T&A&turbinates done just a few mths back. So yeah it does not bother me much.

I worked in an old age home where cleaning poopy bums and colostomy bags and wet diapers was part of my job. Even seeing blood and skin lesions and caring after sores was normal. Cleaning them when they died was normal.

But when I saw my husband's neck bleed while getting a surface piercing I started to see spots and feel all tingly.

I NEVER faint and seeing that really bothered me I guess because he is so close to me.

Well let's see, i can look at autopsy pictures and be perfectly intrigued. But on RPA the other night a woman needed her toe straightened and they showed some knuckle bone being cut off and a drill going through the bone and out the top of the toe. The was no blood at all and it was a tiny thing...but mum and i were covering our eyes and ears and begging dad to turn it over...*shudders* i also dont like looking at breast operations like implants. The thought of having that big hole and then shoving a sac of solicon into it makes my boobs hurt!

Right here! I have to sit down and think about something else or leave the room sometimes when people talk about that kind of stuff in detail. I will start to get dizzy and sometimes hear a loud buzzing noise. I have even blacked out or fainted a few times, but those didn't happen just from talking. That happened from watching graphic car crash videos and from seeing blood in person.

I have a doctor issue, so if a dr draws blood from me, even just a finger poke, I'll faint if I'm not laying down. But I love to talk about medical procedures and conditions. It's fascinating to me. I did do a human anatomy class in university and the disection didn't bother me. I can handle people being injured and watch surgical shows on tv.
My bf, on the other hand, goes weak in the legs if you even talk about how something works or describe a condition or operation.......anything medical. He claims not to be able to move his legs for a short time after this if I've really bothered him. His little cousin is freaked out by anything including food related. We went shopping for meat and they had a back room with like bins of pig heads and long flanks on hooks and such. She didn't go back, but she asked her brother what was back there and then went weak in the knees when he told her lol.
