Would anyone be able to help me figure this out?

If a silver shaded Persian is mated with a chinchilla black tip Persian, will the kittens be either silver shaded or black tip Chinchillas? Or will they be somewhere in between with more longer pigmented tip than the parent?
Thanks in advance!

You could get either or what is called a neither-nor ( to dark to be chinchilla, to light to be shaded). It mainly depends on the pedigree. In my experience showing, sometimes the judges have a difficult time telling the difference.

Thank you for your reply! Mother is a grand champion (silver shaded), father is a champion (chinchilla black tip).

I’m thinking of buying a Chinchilla kitten from the litter, but I’m not sure if the kittens will turn out to be neither-nor. Will the eventual colour show up well by 12 weeks? Thanks again

I would think an experienced breeder may be able to tell. I have only bred shaded silvers and goldens. I did have a golden that was chinchilla( from another cattery), but as an adult in her second year was a shaded so I had to change her registration and start all over showing her.
