I've been reading a bit every day, and am up to 43% read now. It's not a total page turner, but it's keeping my interest, and getting better the further I get into it.

Hi ,

yes, I have almost finished the reading.
Quite a story😉
Sounds like you're just a bit ahead of me.

Discussion starts on the 22nd. Looking forward to reading everyone thoughts/opinions. I'm keeping little notes as I go, so I won't forget anything.

Finished a few days ago!
Oh, good. Wasn't sure if you'd been able to find the book or not.

You've had a busy reading month, but luckily our discussion doesn't start til next Wednesday, and goes on for at least a week, and possibly to the end of the month. So still lots of time for you to read Pretty Little Wife.

I was intrigued when I started reading this book, the wife clearly thought she had killed her husband, put his body in the car and left it somewhere visible where he would soon be found. I wondered if he was actually dead and someone had driven his car away with the body inside or was he alive and planning on teaching his wife a lesson.

I couldn't work out what had happened because other than the notes left on the wife's car there seemed no plausible reason for someone to have removed the car and body.

I was surprised at the way Lila and Christina Torres both spoke to Ginny the detective, showed total disrespect and up to a point, were allowed to get away with it .

I liked the twist where Ryan was compiling information on Lila without her knowledge but
For me there were too many twists and turns that left me not being able to work out what was happening and a bit confused to the point where I found my mind wandering but not sure if this was the fault of the book or me just not concentrating enough.

I was surprised at the ending, Jared being a serial killer and being involved with the girls together with Aaron and that Lila got away with killing her husband because clearly Ginny knew she was guilty.

Because I didn't connect to any particular character and I felt there were too many strong character in the book, I give it.⭐⭐⭐

This was the 2nd book I’ve read by Darby Kane, and unfortunately I didn’t enjoy “Pretty Little Wife” as much as “The Replacement Wife”, which I read last year.

Not sure if it was the way it was written, but I just never felt a connection with any of the characters, so even though I wondered what was going on, and tried to figure it out, at the same time I somehow didn’t really care. Even at the end, when Lila and Jared were at the cabin, I stopped reading and went to bed at the end of the chapter where Lila pulled out the knife.

I’ll admit I was surprised to learn Jared was as awful, I guess really even worse, than his brother. I kept thinking Brent with his hero-like worship of Aaron was involved, so was wrong there.

I also kept thinking Cassie, the next door neighbour, knew more than we were being told, so was disappointed nothing came of that. Or with Christina, Lila’s co-worker, who also implied she knew what was going on.

Lila certainly had bad luck with the men in her life. First her horrible father, then her husband, then her fling, then finally her brother-in-law. At least her lawyer friend was loyal. Coincidence that the author made him gay?

I’m very curious to see what everyone else thought of this book, as despite my love of domestic thrillers, this one just didn’t work for me.

I'm sure you all knew that I'd hate this book - and I did! 🤣
Starting with 5 stars, I took one away because it was so badly written. Another one went because Lisa murdered 2 men and Ginny let her get away with it. Another one went because there were too many loose ends left over in spite of the book being far longer than necessary. I took away another star because I got the feeling it had been written as a screen play for an erotic - or more likely a cheap pornographic film: not many scene changes, beautiful young girls (half naked) being chased through the forest and attacked by two attractive virile men, and Lisa, the Primadonna winning the day by killing them both. WOW!
Hopefully this will not become the first book in a series. Lisa changes her name again and starts a new life - free to take the law into her own hands. I only hope her next husband or boyfriend murders her when he finds out what she's done. Sorry, I think I'm still left with one star before I come up with another reason for murdering this book! 🌠
