Hi everyone,
I noticed a new scared cat in my yard that appears mange afflicted (missing fur, crusts around the eyes and head). Would Revolution be enough to treat it without antibiotics? Assuming I could trap it. I know I need a vet for advice, but I doubt I could trap it and find a vet willing (mine won’t take feral). The programs in Southern Cal also seem completely maxed out for help.
I can’t stop thinking about it and don’t want my outdoor colony affected. Thank you for any advice.

Treatment depends what type of mange the cat has. A vet would need to do a skin scraping to find out exactly what they were affected by and treat them accordingly. Not all treatments work for all types of mange

Cat Mange and Scabies: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments

Are you able to transport the cat out of your local area to get them treated? I found these lists of Spay and Neuter clinics and TNR assistance.

Revolution will work on sarcoptic mange. Years ago I adopted a puppy who had mange and the vet used Revolution to treat it. However, I seem to recall that it might have been a different dose or schedule and you would need to verify how to use it with a vet.

Low-Cost Veterinary Care Directory
This is another directory from Alley Cat Allies and there might be a vet here who will be of some help.

Thanks so much! I’ll keep trying the lists and appreciate the new one. I’m willing to transport or pay oop. This cat is not accepted by the colony. I’m missing 2 of them for 3 days now.

Since you are willing to pay, there might be a local vet who will take a feral but not as low cost TNR. Does your vet know of anyone? My vet did for years until he went with VCA and appointments became almost impossible to get. If you have nextdoor.com you could post a question about this. However, use your best judgment about this if you don't want people to know that you have a colony or a cat who may be contagious...or change up the story before you post.
