Hello fellow cat humans! This is my boy Buddy, and I’m wondering if you experts think he has torbie coloring. I always assumed he was just a brown tabby, but we saw the vet recently and she commented that it’s rare to find male cats with his color pattern. From my research, it would mean he has two X chromosomes and is sterile (he’s adopted and neutered regardless, just curious :)).

He certainly has the “tortitude” I’ve seen described. We always knew he’s special, but it’d be fun if he was rare too! What do you think?

He looks like a brown tabby to me, just with a really warm tone to the color.

Gorgeous boy and I think he does look torbieish but prolly a brown tabby. Here is a link. I think you can do a DNA test to see if he is a torbie. He really does have a lot of red tones.

Nope. "Just" a tabby with a warm ground colour/rufousing. Since he's long haired and has thick stripes it might look more like patches of colour similar to torties to some people. He's a handsome boy!

Yes, I agree with the others. Brown tabbies do have often a warm reddish undertone in places. And if they have this rufism, it will get even more reddish.

Also, torties have very often a very revealing streak of red in their forebrow. Extra reveraling as the fur isnt reddish there even in such cats... He has nothing.

So, a beautiful and even gorgious brown (black) tabby...

Id say just a stunning warm brown tabby. Its harder to tell with the warm tones but he doesnt seem to have any orange markings (the black markings are only black not a trace of orange which says for sure not a torbie) Just love his eyes!!
