Hello everyone,

I always come to catsite whenever I cant find answer to my question. This site has been always helpful to me and I thanks all of you for this. I have lost my password to my user name winkie for this site so created this new one. If any one of you might have read my previous thread Should I Relocate With 8 Month Old Male Cat To A New Home?

I had relocated this male outdoor cat safely and he adjusted well. He used to come to my house at midnight for food and after having food he left. He is totally outdoor male not willing to live inside. But for food and medicine So we relocated in January 2019 but this house was unlucky house for me. In August first my cat Mishtu broke his tail which I had to amputate. Then I fell down and broke my wrist and then my all family members too have to face fractures one after the other.

But the worst happened now in June 2020. As an animal lover I was feeding many strays around my house in COVID times. A 6 month old puppy used to come for food to door and I fed her too. Unfortunately my neighbours didn't liked it and they instigated garbage picker to kill the puppy and he did so with iron rods, torturing her to death. I reported the matter to police, he was arrested but on bail he is out. All neighbors in society went against me and objected to the complain. I started receiving threat calls and so I decided to leave the place and shift to somewhere else which i did.

Now the guilt is that I had to leave that male cat behind. As he showed up only at midnight I couldn't wait for him because of my own safety. So it has been now a month since I left that place and I feel guilty that I betrayed him. He must be hungry and waiting for me. Though he stayed inside only for 10 minutes for the food and not more than that but still he must be in need of food. Veery few people like cats and dogs in India. So no one will feed him I know.

I cannot sleep at night thinking this. Please advise. I wish to go back and look for him but my family doesn't allow me.

Can you take a big brother or male friend with you? Can you alert the animal authorities and ask them if they can look for him or meet you out there to find him?

I think it just sucks what they did to that puppy and I hope they receive payback someday. How anyone can be cruel to a helpless animal is beyond me.

I agree with your family- do not go back alone- because the people back there are demented.

Thanks Jefferd18. My brother doesn't want to go there. Animal authorities here are not efficient here to look after a cat or a dog. I don't wish to say but things in the name of animal welfare, animal NGOS here is all about money business and no selfless care for any animal.
People have gone merciless and ignorant with ego even at the time of coronavirus.

My thinking is that if you can just get back there to set a trap for him and then go back once more to get him and then you are done with that place for good. You just need some people to accompany you.

I am hearing stories of some people in India who are not showing respect to the zoo animals there- teasing and tormenting the animals. The zoo officials are baffled by the animosity towards the animals and I guess I am too.

Well, the U.S. has nothing to brag about either when it comes to COVID19.

Thanks again Jefferd18. I can try this to set a trap. But again, the house which i left my landlord has the keys. Mishtu (my cat) used to come there. And if i wait outside for him then its risk at night also. But I will think of it or some way to do it. This will take time as he might have stopped coming and if so where shall i locate him then. Its been month and over. I left that place on 13th June. God knows what has happened to him. I will need to go there often, call his name and then only he can show up..

You hear true stories of people in India showing cruelty towards animals. Google and find two latest cases which my heart sinks. One story of today where an owner left a labrador dog on rail tracks to run over by train and another four men tortured and killed a young monkey and then poured black paint over it. Ahhh...we have lost our compassionate heart. that's it and also moral values.

This is my fear towards my cat as well. People there knew my cat very well. Because he lost his tail, he is easily identified. I fear they might have harmed him also. This worries me more than his feeding.

Somehow, have someone who will go with you, set a live trap where it is not easily seen, and leave. But you must check it frequently. Do not let those people bully you. Tell anyone who asks that you are coming there to retrieve your outside cat and they should be happy to see it go. I wish you well, please keep us informed.

I am so sorry for all that you have had to face and witness. Please try not to blame yourself because this escalated into such a horrible situation, more than anyone would expect, that all normal reactions to having to trap a cat had to be abandoned. I have to agree that the only hope would be the secret trap that someone has to check daily.....faithfully....however and with whom ever it could be managed. The cat sitting in a trap and discovered by any of those other people would be worse off than whatever it is doing now.

I agree with my friends above- do not let these people intimidate you- this is too important. This might be a joke but I am going to ask if the police can escort you, after all they did arrest that one person.

Thanks Fionasmom. There are cameras on everybody's house in that society and the neighbor who was behind killing that innocent puppy is free this time working from home and he and his kids are active day and night always peeping to other peoples activity.. my cat used to cross his house and then enter my house...so where to keep the trap in hiding mode is difficult. He already had threatened me that he will kill my cat also. And his wife had boldly said that he identifies Mishtu very well and sees through the camera. My mind is not working at all....also days are passing by...I will have to locate my cat first..because now I don't know where he is...

Thanks again..Police here never cares for any animal...they were not willing to arrest that dog killer. It was through a minister in power who is an animal lover....Here there is no justice in the hands of police...neither the court....laws are stale..never amended...and police doesn't follow the law....they only follow their own law and money....they will never come to help... infact they have still not taken the puppy matter to court...and I know nothing is going to happen...my family is not cooperating with me and doesn't allow me to go back there...but i am planning to go and see what's the situation.

So the police there are a joke- remind me to never visit India. I don't know why, but I grew up thinking that the people in India were into reincarnation and worshiped animals.

Can the minister in power help you again? I just want the two of you to be reunited and I know you desperately want that as well.

I will try to find if she can help again...In India people do believe in reincarnation...but only animal they worship is cow...in Nepal they worship dogs...but the thing is the culture here is changing fast...infact it has changed a lot...

Thanks again...Yes I wish to be reunited with my sweet cat..you wont believe how much he loved me..he used to sit on my lap often and with his little hands touched my cheeks if I pretended to be asleep...he watched cat movies with so much excitement on my iPad....he brought toys for me...i think from neighbourhood....toys of kids....balls, dolls, cars and many other small toys...also when he lost his tail....he stayed with me till he was all well...he loved treats...sweet treats that's why I named him Mishtu which means sweet...but he is a wanderer...never wanting to stay home....and his routine was to meet me once in 24 hours....I will post his few pictures soon...the profile pic is also of him...

Oh, that's right- it is cows. I think I might have seen the "Life of PI" a little too many times.

He is a cutie! He looks kinda of sad in the picture. I can see why you are taken with him and I know he can't wait to see you again Just explain to her the fears you have about coming back to look for him. Is there somebody in your old house now?

Old house was rented house and now the landlord has the keys. She will rent out again i think to some people. Mishtu might be coming to that place. But it is more than a month. It will be difficult to track him...I might go in few days time over there. Talking with some one to accompany me. Let's see. I don't have my own house. Here also where I have shifted is rented house. I always take big independent house on rent so that my animals can live peacefully.

It takes a long time for a cat to get out of a habit. I had Jeff for eight years and she still would stroll down to the end of the street to see if some food had been left out by her former owners. Just find someone to go with you and see if your friend can help you.

winkie- how are things going?
Thanks jefferd... It was tough time for me...my mom was not well and hospitalised...but i went to that place for three four days during night...I used to walk all over the society andcall his name and then come back and sit in car right at the back side of the house where we lived...this happened for three days....then on fourth day i started building trail...I picked handful of dry kibbles in my pocket and made the maze puzzle type of trail...I knew where all he went..so I threw kibbles all along those paths and connected the path to where i was in the car waiting for him...on fifth day he appeared ...and when i jumped out of the car to pick him..he ran and sat on the high wall backside of the house where we stayed...he was afraid...and he is skinny.....He was not willing to come to me as don't know why he was afraid..whole night i waited he sat there too on the wall but ....then i came back early morn to the city where i live now...I went again and thought of a plan to have him....I saw that right at the back side of the house where i lived earlier was a house and had a sign of room on rent...I knew Mishtu wont come unless I have a room or a house as he didnt wanted me to feed him in the outdoor area...so i called that person..its a single room very small low cost with a washroom attached..I requested him to rent me out..he agreed...and my plan started to work.. plan was to have a room, let Mishtu come in..give him food..and I vanish from there.. so yesterday was my happy day to meet my son (Mishtu)...I have put a single bed there, a water can and nothing else...Only feeding bowls for Mishtu and his food....I sneaked in at night and again made a trail of kibbles , this time from my car to this house up to inside to my rooms door....he appeared again yesterday night..this time I was not in the car but standing at the gate of this new house..I called him and he looked up to me and first time meowed....as if he was saying I am happy now.....he followed the trail from the car and was in the new house an din my room..I was so happy..I fed him..he was so dehydrated...he loves yoghurt ..so i mixed it with water and surprisingly he preferred that first..drank a litre...then he had his other solid food, chicken and kibbles......he went away again after eating and came again twice gap of an hour or so...so yesterday I stayed there whole night...at around 5.00 am i left again locked that room...as 5.00 am curfew is relaxed (due to coronavirus night curfew is there from the past two months)

Now the thing is that above my room there are few boys on first floor who live and again another family on second floor...hope they don't say anything to Mishtu.. rest my plan is same.. go at night, unlock the room, feed him and stay over night and come back early morning. This way no one will know I am there.

I cannot bring Mishtu to new place right now... as mom is in hospital...she is serious as she had falls earlier..she is 80 years...and I have to go to hospital to see her ..At new place Mishtu might be lost..as I might not be at home..that place where he is now is familiar to him..and now I believe he will be ok there...as he spend two months without me, without food....once mom is stable and I am at home most of the time..then i might bring him here....

Thanks for your guidance and motivation to find him...

So happy you found him!!! He must be so relieved to have you again! What a wonderful soul you are to go to such lengths to keep him safe!

When you bring him to your home eventually, will you be keeping him indoors? Or will you allow him to roam outside again?

Thanks moxiewild...Yes he is happy to be in my lap again and to eat good food..for two months he had almost nothing..i feel so sorry for all helpless animals who search food whole day and cannot have a full meal to fill their hungry stomach...Bit things have twisted...Instead of me staying there at night, my brother has opted to stay..he fears for my life....so he goes there at night and returns early morn....just to feed him and look after him ...Mishtu is a bit confused..but he will adapt to this timing..we cannot stay during the day because society people are active at that time...Mishtu comes around 12.30 at midnight..eats and again vanishes...But I am glad he is alive and safe and I can see and meet him....

I wish to bring him to the new place where I stay now..it is 15 km away from that place...but my 80 year old mom is having falls..she falls by herself...every month this episode is happening...this time she fainted and we had to hospitalize her...all medical tests were performed brain and cardio..all reports are fine..docs not able to diagnose the cause...

I will bring Mishtu when mom is a bit better as we have to go to hospital often....bringing to new place for a cat is stressful...specially an adult cat..last time i shifted he was 8 month and now he is 2 years...he is well settled to that environment..has made friends and is happy...so i need to give him 24/7 time if i bring here..to keep on eye on him..otherwise he might be lost in this city....

I wanted to spay him when he was young..but here docs not willing to do....for dogs they have started but for cats not yet...though be it dog or cat ..People hate them...cats are not liked here...ppl are superstitious..they don't understand the truth that all living beings have same soul as we have and feel same pain as we...same hunger as we, same emotions...moreover we all are a part of this planet...but humans think planet is only there's and animals have no right to walk on it...

I have been taking care of stray or feral dogs and cats for many years now.... especially when they are young..and offer them support if they are abandoned by their parents, lost or have no food...and I pray God gives me strength to do so till my last breath...because I can feel their pain and also believe that they too have a purpose here as we have according to our Karma.

You know at night when i go to bed, I pray for all the living beings on earth and have one thing asking from God..forgive our sins and let no one sleep hungry...

Thanks again moxiewild....and thanks to all Catsite members who are so loving to their cats.
