I'm so sorry.  I can't comment medically but i have a blind from birth cat who is very happy, adjusted and does very well. If your cat goes blind i expect she will adapt, and if you want to see examples of how my Jenny does, she has a public facebook page (no account needed to view) at www.facebook.com/jennytheblindcat

stephen
The pictures are beautiful Stephen and that video with the shoe made me a little sad.

Hello everybody:
today was Lucas' appointment, Lucas has uveitis and fibrin deposits in the anterior chamber of the eye. A i suspected , it had to be treated as soon as it started, i told her, that i went to the vets several times and the last time i asked him to call the vet because if he called they would see him sooner, but the vet refused to call the specialist because to him this wasn't an emergency. She says this should have been treated in the first two weeks. He also has a little bit of cataracts, but she is worried about the fibers in the eye because they can stick to the lens and then it could be worse and lead to glaucoma. His eyes are dry also.
The causes could be like 5: his autoimmune disease, A virus, bacteria or cancer (which i pray to God is not)
She prescribed Atropine, prednisolone drops and a lubricant.

She wanted to do a complete blood test, a test for toxoplasmosis, bartonella, sonograms and x-rays... but it was $1, 054.26 and honestly i didn't have the money but she told me to start him on the treatment to see if it works. She gave me the estimates to do the tests as soon as i can. I will have to do a gofundme for that because i don't have the money. and I really need to know what caused this. ah has to be treated if this is being caused by a virus or bacteria or something else.

I really liked her she is a very good doctor and she was soo sweet with my baby

here are some pics of our visit to the vet

Hello everyone:
Just wanted to give you all an update on my Lucas, I see some i provement in his eyes, can you all see it? I do, the cloudiness is reduced in both eyes. His next appointment is on July 11, and thank GOD my brother has agreed to take me again, it is a 3 hour drive. I only have to worry about getting the funds to be able to pay for it. I want to thanks everyone that has donated to Lucas' gofundme, we have $267, thank you all. I'm trying to do everything in my power to get the money to be able to take him to his appointment.

Yes, I see the improvement.  My guys eyes started where Lucas's eyes are now, and his are totally clear now.  He still can't see, but his eyes look fine.

who is everyone? I saw no comments here saying this. I hope you can get the vet care needed and that he gets his site back. I know its unnerving to have a kitty go blind but in case you wanted to read about a kitty who is blind and is very famous-google Homer's odyssey .. I read this book in two days-this kitty catches flies that are 6 feet up~ I think this book will help with any fears you may have-this is just incase the vision doesnt get better.

I also have a close friend who volunteers at the blind cat sanctuary. She is often on their facebook page-she goes almost every week. She has many tales about how smart they are and how well they adjust. This isnt telling you to just accept it. I am just giving you other options to read up on.

Not here, but in other groups and people around me, the truth is most people think I should just accept this and do nothing. If he will be blind of course I will accept it and love him as always, but he deserves to be treated and I have hope.  I joined a blind cat sanctuary on facebook and asked if I could share my gofund me because I was desperate and the lady who responded to my message was so rude! never felt worse :-( But never here, everyone here has been so nice and thank you for the link, I will check it out.

I am sorry someone was rude. I dont think it was my friend. She usually posts photos from her visits. I am sorry you got static back-I wasnt sure if someone posted something here and then deleted it-sorry!

yes facebook is FULL of know it all idiots. I stay here so my family cant spy on me. they hound me and stalk me instead of just calling me and saying hi. ):(

Yes lots of people make fun of my love for cats..but it doesn't stop me. I hope the treatment works! Keep your head up-ignore the static.

It is ok, I shouldn't let it bother me that much, people like to hive their opinions.. I guess I'm just over sensitive because I love Lucas so much and seeing him like this breaks my heart. Thank you (hug)

Poor sweet Lucas! I'm so sorry for what the both of you have gone through and are going through. I spent ages reading every page of your other thread (it's taken me an eternity!) because I have an itchy kitty who is on permanent prednisilone and was very interested in Lucas' story. I can't believe he is having this issue after everything else he has been through. It doesn't seem fair sometimes. I do hope the treatment he is receiving helps him and he retains at least some of his eyesight if not a complete improvement. So frustrating for you that the first vet didn't send him to the specialist right away. It's hard when you feel something is important and it feels like they're not listening (I know, I've been there a lot too). Keep us updated on how he is doing! x

Awwww, sweet sweet boy!  His coat looks good. (knowing everything he's been through!)  I'm so pleased to hear the vet said he could regain, or at least retain some of his vision!

Sorry I've been so absent the past few days. I had been really, really sick since Wendsday. The whole story is on my poetry thread. It was terrible!!

Give that sweet Lucas kisses from his Auntie Kelly!!    Hugs to you, & yes,as Foxxycat said, just ignore all of those who are negative. They don't get it. ..We do!  We'll give you all the support you need.
