So for as long as I've owned my cats (about 4 years) I've been looking for a good dewormer. Luckily none of my cats have ever gotten a serious worm infection but I'm always on the look out for medicine that can keep them from having to go to the vet (2 of my cats get very stressed out and have to be medicated). I believe they have only ever gotten tapeworms (little white bits around their butt?) and they do get a yearly dewormer but idk if that's enough. Any recommendations for dewormer or ways to prevent worms?

Generic pyrantel pamoate. It's usually sold for horses or humans. You can find the dosage online. This is the thick yellowish-white stuff vets use. The brand name (Strongid) requires a prescription but generic doesn't.

For tapeworms, Bayer tapeworm tablets. They're the only ones available OTC.

That's if you live in the US. In the UK, and probably other countries too, Drontal is available OTC, and that will treat all kinds of worms.
