Hi! I recently moved my litter boxes (I have 3 kitties, 5 boxes) into a small closet space in my apartment vs. a larger room to save space and installed a cat door. I did notice however: no matter how much I scooped / cleaned: the air felt thick and it was hard to breath even going in to scoop the boxes
(If i felt this way, I couldn't imagine how they felt.) Sooo I panicked and went to walmart and bought the most affordable air purifier they have and did a deeeeep clean of all the boxes.
I am tight on funds right now as I did just spend a good chunk of money (A LOT) saving one of my girls who had eaten a croc jibbit and had hepatic lipidosis.
But does anyone have any recommendations for some good air purifiers that aren't TOO costly that I could start budgeting towards or any other recommendations to help with this problem in a small space?
Anyways, here is a pic of my current litter box situation.

That's a really cool set up!
JME, but scented litters of any kind bother my lungs. Do you think your cats would use litter that doesn't have scent?

Thats a possibility! I am sure they would, I could probably swap some things around once i am out of this litter and see how that goes. I had been using worlds best previously (which i LOVED, but it got too costly :frown:)

Could the issue perhaps be too much humidity in there? Not sure where you live, but sometimes some trapped moisture can make it feel a bit ick.

Another thought is leaving the door open at night so it can get some fresh air in there.:)

I don't know if this is a possibility but we've always put our litter box(es) in a room with a window nearby and left it slightly open. I realize you have 5 litter boxes so maybe put some of them in another location near a window and still leave a few in the closet.

I have 4 boxes in a small bedroom with no other furniture. I use a germ guardian. It’s normally $100, they are $70 right now at Best Buy and prob cheaper during holiday sells .
I use tidy paws free and clear, best I’ve found but it’s still so dusty.
It’s hepa but you can see some dust does pass thru it. Recently I’ve question if I was doing more harm , having this blow stuff into the air. I tried turning it off for a couple day , but I could barely scoop the boxes . It was that noticeable of a difference in having it off. I also realize I give my cat litter way too much credit for odor control haha.
