TLDR: leaving/moving from a scrapyard I steward for. The property managers who will be in charge of the cats refuse to feed them consistently. I don't feel right leaving when they aren't properly cared for. What should I do?

----------------------------------
I'm currently in the process of getting ready to move from the property I look after/steward and do not have the same amount of time to care for the small feral colony on it as I did.
Due to this I've had to let the property managers/owners who cared for the ferals themselves before I moved in. They understand, and agreed to helping on the days I can't get out to feed them.

But, It's only been a few weeks of having to ask for help from them. And they often have gone hungry when it's the PM's day to feed them. Unbeknownst to me because I was getting incorrect info given to be when I ask. Apparently they believe the cats will "feed themselves with the pests". It's the Mojave desert, there's not a lot. Especially on 110f days.

There is also an incident recently where the PM locked one of the ferals in a shipping container for an undetermined amount of time. Had I not heard him crying from the container the other night is something I don't want to think about.

I've been very vocal about my displeasure of what's happening to the PMs with the cats and the lack of care they are getting already.
I have pushed continuously for them to be trapped and rehomed. And I'm constantly told that they like the cats and don't want to take them to shelters to be killed. It's a circular argument that's impacting the cats.

Needless to say, I didn't really know what to do. I feel like leaving them to their care is like leaving them to their deaths. All I do know is I could really use opinions.

Can they be trapped and relocated? Some rescues have barn cat programs for when a colony area becomes unsafe.
They are relatively easy, yes. Especially the three fixed ones I tamed down. I'll have to look into that specifically, I think they will make great barn cats.

Join nextdoor. I have found help that way
Good idea! I'll try there.

Another possibility is to contact Ally Cat Allies, /www.alleycat.org They have resources and contacts all over the country, and may be able to direct you to someone who can help.
I appreciate all the choices! I've heard of them, but never thought to contact them 🙏 I'll give that a try.
