She’s feeling off. 😿

I can’t get more than a few bites of anything out of her. She also sits and stares at the litterbox like she’s contemplating the pros and cons of pooping.

I wish the Mirtaz would kick in already.

My vote is a tad more stock (for the food issue). *nods*

Poor girl. She is a yo-yo right now but it will get better.
I left out some of her old food and packed a couple timed feeders. I don’t know if I trust the homemade to just leave it out because I don’t know how stock ages.

As soon as the 🤬 landscapers 🤬 the 🤬 off with their 🤬 leaf blowers, and peace is returned, I’ll grab the laptop and leave her to have a day. 😶. Maybe when I get back she’ll be feeling better. Or different.

Still no poop since last night. But she also didn’t eat much since last night. So that’s kind of an issue and also not an issue. Schrödinger’s cat may or may not be constipated.

First dinner, she ate. Second dinner? She has all night.

Speaking of all night, still waiting on her latest poop. I stopped trying to feed her the bland diet because she wasn't much interested in it anyway.

We can try a 1 inch ribbon of Mirtaz again tomorrow morning unless or until her poops suggest otherwise. I'd like to build a steady state of 1 inch and increase from there slowly as necessary rather than changing the dose on her too quickly looking for the Goldilocks dose. ("just right!")

Still no poop.

But she’s cleaned second dinner plate, first feeder, most of second feeder, and first breakfast. It’s like “some other cat” has returned. She used to clear her plate so fast that by the time I cleaned up from prep, she'd be done. I'd come out of the kitchen and look at her clean plate and say, "It looks like some other cat came and ate your meal while you weren't looking. Sorry about that. There'll be another meal coming soon." (I only have the one cat.)

It looks like the Mirtaz kicked in sometime last night. I won't dose her again this morning. We'll try an every other day schedule so that I don't overdo it.

Besides, today is a travel day. We head back up north for a recheck of her mouth. I'm nervous about the missing poop. I hope it comes before we leave in the afternoon.

She’s patiently awaiting that half globe in the upper right to light up that says second breakfast will be served.

It starts to fade on at 8:30 and takes 25 minutes to reach full strength and goes out after 45 minutes.

And there it goes... since cats are used to jumping the gun before sunrise, as soon as that starts lighting up, I feel okay to start the prep.

Already settled in.

Well, actually...

Some comedian once said the first thing he likes to do in a hotel room is 💩. Really helps make the room feel his own.

Krista has claimed the room. Within 20 minutes of unpacking the car and getting the litterbox set up, she left a little soft serve but still mostly formed. More formed than anything she’s laid down all week.

The drive was uneventful but long. It took us three hours this time with a brief bathroom stop for her. Litterbox in the passenger side at the feet. She wasn’t crying for it but she needed to pee. Scooped into the litter genie, dumped the litter, wiped down the box and back into the trunk it went. Gave her a little more out of the carrier time before she voluntarily climbed back in. She road trips really well!

So she’s had a pee and a poop and a meal. Her cat rock is playing on the iPad and I think she’ll nap on the bed if I leave and let her.

Time for me to figure out a beer and a meal.

Gah!

I thought we were almost done with the squirts since tonight’s was almost formed. And then she just made me regret not having enough litter for a second box. I woke to the smell of her fouling the first. Then as I was cleaning it up, the little poopy butthole squated near the door and left a messy carpet pretzel. Fortunately, it is hotel carpet with no piling. I’ll stop by a Petco tomorrow for more litter and another bottle of enzyme cleaner.
😿💩🤦🏼‍♂️🙊

She was an angry one at the dentist today. I got her out for her weight and it wasn’t good. 😿 She was too angry for vitals. So off the table we let her go and back into her carrier she went. Uh oh! She’s going to be like that. I tried to zip down a side of her carrier and she swatted at me. Carrier privileges revoked! I tipped her out and sealed it up. She was just going to have to get used to the dentist office rather than hide in the carrier and be viciously opposed to any intrusions. She sat against my side but was still low growling. I put her cat rock on and that mellowed her only a little. Then the dentist came in. I was thinking, “how is he going to look into her mouth when she’s like this?” I was very impressed by how he handled her. He sat down next to her, scratched her head, and then put a finger at the corner of her mouth and gently tugged until she either opened her mouth, or the money shot, the wide mouth hiss. It was like a medically necessary provocation. I’m sorry he wasn’t able to get any pictures of her mouth. But he says everything healed up nicely. The stitches are still there but those will fall out in another week or two.

I was giving her some settling down time after the visit. I’m about ready to give her the Mirtaz wet willy. I know it seems futile to let her shovel food in that’s just going to squirt out. But she does take the s boulardii more readily when she has the munchies. And when we get home I can see about mixing a raw meal in now and again.

Next chapter in Krista’s care is likely going to be finding a local internist who can work with us on her IBD/diarrhea rather than her regular vets who seem to be too busy, not returning calls, don’t have the same training or answers, etc. I don’t want to repeat the dental mistake of leaving necessary specialized care to a generalist.

IDK why we lost your posts for a few. Having some issues here, too. But glad to hear about Krista's very good dental report! and hoping her digestion issues stabilize. She sounds like such a great little traveller!

Her favorite piece of furniture is a wire brush arch that she just loves rubbing her face against. I had to take it away while her mouth was healing. But I asked the dentist and he said she can go to town on it. So that’s what she’s doing.

We had one of those plastic numbers that attaches to a corner. They liked it. Krista looks like she's thoroughly enjoying herself there. How's her eating and digestion today?

I don’t know if she crashed yesterday because the Monday mirtz wore off or because of the squirts Tuesday night. Or if it was the stress of the dental visit or the rush of Wednesday’s Mirtaz but she was off for most of the day yesterday. I think the Mirtaz is taking a little skip from her step. But at least she is eating. I am hoping that once I get a few regular doses in her, she’ll become more acclimated to it and it won’t be a cycle of ravenous eating and crashing until the next dose kicks in. No poop since Tues night squirts.

I’m thinking it may be yet another rough week or two before we get the dose, dosing schedule, portions, and butt stuff resolved. That may take us to our internist consultation. I haven’t called around yet but I imagine there’s at least a couple of weeks waiting period for new patients. There are definitely more internal medicine specialists in my area. But there’s also no shortage of poopy, barfy cats and dogs.

Well, ya know what they say about "it" happening ;) :sigh: and about all drugs having side (or in this case, rear) effects :headshake: I hope she stabilizes, too. And after getting reamed like that, it probably will take a few days for any production in that area. Poor Krista! I wouldn't wish that on a dog. *And I'm not a dog person.*
Does Krista have an internist yet, or one that is recommended?

I’m packing up the car. I’m coming back for the litterbox. I walk through the door and, “oh. Excuse me. Carry on.” She left me the best formed brown pickle I’ve seen in a week. 💩😻👍

And now she’s ready to travel. 😹
