Shocked to see newborn kittens looking back at you on day 3... not all but about half do. Anyone have this?

It can happen, though usually they don't open until around 7 days (unsure of how experienced you are in this area).

I wouldn't worry too much, just make sure they remain in as dark an environment as possible to prevent damage to the eyes, as they will be very sensitive at this stage. Keep a close watch for infection too, they will particularly susceptible.

Short-haired kittens open their eyes very early. Is it a short-haired kitten? 😊

Usually it happens at 1-2 weeks. Even in the same litter kittens can open their eyes on different days.

Could they have been born a week late?
