I have a kitten that is about 3 mos old. He was from a litter of 2 from a feral cat. I was able to catch him about 2 weeks ago cause his eyes were matted shut and he couldn't see. I put him in a spare bedroom. I've been giving him terramycin twice a day for the past week. Vet recommended. This kitten was very underweight. I could feel his ribs and his spine. He only weighed 1#7oz a week ago. He started sounding congested so the vet gave me an antibiotic to give once a day. Also some nutri-cal so he gains weight. He loves that stuff. Anyway his congestion is better. He's not coughing and sneezing so much. But his eyes aren't as well as I thought they should be. They are open and he hasn't had any gook in them. Altho they are looking better they look like they are sunk in his head. Is this because he is underweight? Will they improve as he gains weight? I mentioned this to the vet and they say to continue the terramycin for a couple more days. He is active. Loves to play. No issues using litter box. Any thoughts?

kitten's eyes look sunk in

Sounds just like the 3 kittens I just grabbed. Goopy eyes and sneezing congestion and everything. Thier eyes are good so far. One thing I know causes sunken eyes is dehydration. Cats are prone to not getting enough water in the best of times. Maybe make sure you have several sources of water and a fountain if possible.

I have him in a spare bedroom right now because of his health issues. I named him Tiny. He has plenty of water and has been drinking quite a bit. He has been eating pretty good also. Even when he was outside, there was water available for all of the cats. I'm just wondering if his eyes will improve. I would love to keep him as an inside kitty as he is very affectionate but my 12 year old inside cat doesn't like him at all. She has been an only cat as she doesn't get along with other cats.
My indoor cat was 14 years old, an only cat who had no contact with other cats. when we added a calico kitten to our family. She had 2 broken bones from a car accident. Until she recovered I kept her in a separate room. My older cat has his own room. First introduction were very polite hisses from both. Now they are best buddies.
