Can someone explain to me what draws kittens to laptops. Both Dora and Olivia love to sit on my keyboard when I'm typing. They will move brush up against the screen and then return to sitting on the keys while I'm trying to type.

It's warm!  And you're there.  And of course, you're trying to do something and they want you to know that playing with them is more important!

Sometimes they never grow out of it--here's my five year old Zoe just a few minutes ago.  She does this EVERY morning--nudges the screen, knocks the power cord out of the computer, bumps my hands while I type....she's way too big to get up on the keyboard, but tries anyway.

My cat Beans and my laptop are arch enemies. She absolutely hates when I use my computer, b/c it means she's not getting any attention. As soon as I turn it on, she piles up in my lap to keep me from using it.

That computer is occupying your lap, which is the cat's rightful place. How DARE it!

I'm currently visiting my mother and brother. My sister-in-law has a small chihuahua who lies next to me on the recliner while I drink my morning coffee and check my email on the iPad. He complains every time my elbow jostles him as I use the stylus. Same difference. The pet is supposed to be the center of your universe, and humans appear to be remarkably obtuse about this self-evident fact of life.

Hah, I love how all our cats seem to have very similar habits! When I was studying with my books and papers spread out over my desk, my cat used to jump up and lie sprawled over the whole lot - it was impossible to carry on working and impossible to move him off :p

Yes. That's a center of attention thing.

My Sweet Thing once managed to press Ctl-Alt-Delete on my desktop computer, many years ago, and then couldn't understand why she'd been banned from the computer room.

Oh, no kidding.  That's adorable.  But just wait until he weighs 10 lbs. and still wants to lie on that keyboard.
