We coated the wires with tabasco sauce - the red pepper sauce so I could see where I'd covered the wires and where I hadn't. small artist brush or q-tip works well. We only had one cat who liked to eat hot sauce. Nothing is proof against everything.
My husband once (accidentally) dropped a pickled jalapeno on the floor when Radar was nearby and wasn't quick enough picking it up, it didn't touch the sides, straight down it went and he didn't seem to suffer any ill effects!
We found that bitter apple spray from the vet worked for cables well though, I can get some more if chewing turns out to be an issue. They are slightly older kittens though, so may well be over the worst of the "investigate everything with your mouth" phase. I will be prepared just in case though.

As already mentioned upthread, one of my previous cats had a weird obsession with chewing cables and another had pica, so I don't think anything would surprise me.
I managed to keep both of them safe so it should be OK with new babies.
I'm going to follow them around at first regardless, you never know what they might find interesting.
epona epona When I first got Penguin when he was 3 months old, I covered all my wires with this cord protector on Amazon. So glad I did because he really went after the cords when he started teething at 5 months... Screenshot 2024-12-23 205450.png
