Hey everyone. We rescued this sweet boy Goose from outside our home when he was around 8 weeks old. He had worms and was treated for those, but began having episodes of coughing/sneezing that seemed almost asthmatic like. He was eating fine and playing fine. We took him to the vet and they gave him azithromycin thinking a possible URI. The medicine helped a little but he was still having coughing fits and his belly was still a bit bloated. It also seems like he has slightly labored breathing but he is always purring really hard so it's hard to tell.

So we took him back to the vet on Friday and they did an xray and she said it looks like his liver, kidneys and stomach were very large. She said it looks like he has a lot of gas as well. She said it was strange but offered no relief or idea on what it could be, and just offered some panacur to see if any worms got into his lungs. I'm so worried that he has fip or something.

We made an appointment at another vet to run more tests so that we can use our scratch pay. He is the sweetest and cuddliest baby and after losing Leo in July I am going to be immensely heart broken if this baby has something fatally wrong with him. He follows me everywhere and loves me so much. He is around 13 weeks old now.

Hi. Very sweet looking kitty! All you can do is what you are doing to pursue additional testing. It might be worth looking into an internal med vet group, perhaps one that has an infectious disease specialist on staff. As I am sure you know, any fluid in Goose' belly can be aspirated to check to see if it meets the titer criteria for FIP. And, there are now treatments that can eradicate FIP.

I hope the best for you and Goose, and would love for you to keep us posted, if you don't mind.

Just sending out an update. We did take Goose to the other vet and they did not run any tests on him as they don't think he is showing signs of anything serious and said any tests they would run would be affected by the antibiotics he was on.

He had the 10 days of azithromycin antibiotics and is currently on day 10 of a 14 day dose of Panacur (fenbenzadole) for possible lung worm. He is doing better and isn't having diarrhea anymore and he isn't coughing like he was. We will finish out this medication and then probably have another xray done to see how everything looks! 1000005152.jpg

Look at that little face! He loves you so much and knows you took care of him. Thank you for the update and please let us know how this turns out when you have the xrays.

He's beautiful. I hope that solves everything up for him.
