I just got my 13 week old kitten Cooper on Thursday, he came litter trained and as soon as I got him home and showed him where the litter box is, he went right away. Yesterday and today he's been having issues where he's stepping in his freshly made poo while covering it up, luckily it's only ever on his one foot but it does track around and it doesn't smell too kind. I've been wiping his foot off a lot, he has lots of litter to cover up and a mat around his box. Is this a normal thing young kittens do or is there something that can be done to help him?

It does happen with kittens sometimes. The aren't quite big enough to step over their mess as they cover. At this point, it sounds like he'll likely grow out of it as he gets bigger and better at covering.
