I'm waiting to collect the calico(?) and tortoiseshell female kittens pictured here. Both the girls and their ginger and white brother seem to have much fluffier coats, whilst their full ginger brother seems to be a definite shorthair. Any idea on the girls final coat length?? I don't have pictures of their feet or tails and didn't pay much attention to them when I viewed them, too busy cuddling!! Coat length not important, just curious and excited. They are 8 weeks old and mum is a short hair calico, dad unknown. Pictures show all four siblings. Thank you. xx

They are adorable! I think the first four kittens will end up as longhairs, because they look so fluffy, and they also have long ear furnishings, which is a good indicator of fur length. The last kitten, I think will be shorthaired.

They are now home and have definite paw tufts although their tail hair seems slim, they have occasional long hairs but not thick and fluffy. Just trying to work out if I need to get them used to baths!! Also, is a tortoiseshell,

It's normal for longhaired kittens to have slimmer tails than you would expect... the tails often fluff up later. I think these kittens are probably longhairs. They don't necessarily have to be introduced to baths (not all longhaired cats require baths), but you will want to get them used to being combed frequently.

Yes, the girl with white appears to be a calico. It's normal to see tabby markings on the red (ginger) patches.

Thank you so much for answering all my questions lutece. I've only had shorthaired cats before, one of which we had to bath when she became ill and couldn't keep herself clean. It was awful for both of us!! I've had plenty of longhaired dogs so I don't know why I'm worrying. As long as they get used to it early, they'll be fine with it. Fifteen years since my stint as kitten mommy and I'm worrying about absolutely everything!! Thanks again. xx
