My sister has a kitten named Sophie and has been asking me to make her some clothes for her, but I cannot find any patterns for cats.

Does anyone have or know any patterns for cats? It would be greatly appreciated!

Cats don`t like to be dressed up. Unless your sister has a Sphynx cat or the cat is recovering from surgery that requires her to be covered I`d avoid dressing her in anything.

Why not knit her some toys, a blanket, a cat bed or something the kitten would enjoy?

I agree, not many cats enjoy being dressed up or wearing clothes. Is she wanting clothes for the kitten to wear daily, or clothes to dress the kitten up for a photo shoot? (Some kittens will tolerate it for a few moments, but not all.)
With that said, do you knit or crochet? (Or both?)

I haven't knitted a cat bed yet, but, I used this method (hand-knitting with thick, chunky yarn) to make a full sized blanket last year as a Christmas gift. The project was done surprisingly fast. I'm sure your sister and her kitten would love it.

Calling all knitters and other woolly things.
Here's a fun thread about knitting and yarn crafting, if it's something you'd be interested in!

What everyone else said... absolutely no need for clothes and anyway she'd grow out of them in a matter of weeks.
Cats really don't like it, and they need to groom.

A cat blanket would be wonderful. And here are some more cat beds... Then she has it for life. :lovecat:

As a kid, I used to put my cats in baby clothes and then into either a doll cradle or stroller. They seemed to enjoy it (didn't run away) but I agree, as an adult, I would never think to put clothes on my cats.

Some cats do like to have shirts or dresses on. My mom's cat is a short-haired calico, and she loves to have her shirts on. She takes off the shirts she doesn't like and begs for the ones she does.

I don't know if my sister's cat is the same, but if she does not then I can make her some toys, a cat bed, or something like that.

These are some really good ideas, but I have no idea how to knit or crochet:/
If you have any tutorials on how to complete these projects, I think I may try them.

While she grows it's best to keep her clothing free! Even gentle and flexible things can cause them some issues during development. That's why for kittens who need it, vets give specific instructions on how to wrap them up. (Check out Kitten Lady's video on YouTube about the kitten with leg issues! They used gauze wraps to help him grow right.)

This site has some patterns for sewing!

I think a lot of us have put something on for a quick pic from time to time.

I'm in the same camp: If you want to put a Santa hat or some reindeer antlers on your cat in order to take a photo for your family Christmas album, that's fine. It's only for a little holiday fun and the cat will probably tolerate it for a few minutes but making a cat wear clothes for an extended time isn't a good idea.

Besides, how many of those Christmas photos have you seen where the whole family is posing and smiling but the cat has a look on its face that says, "I'll get you for this!" ;) ;) ;)
