You mention you 'have one' for your litter robot and it works well. What is it you are referring to? I have two dogs and two cats and have a litter robot, which is great. The cats use it, it cycles within 10-15 minutes and there is never any smell. However, our little sheltie assumes this is his personal buffet and checks regularly for 'snacks'. I've set up barricades to try to make it impossible for him to get to the entrance (which has challenged the cats at times as they will look at it and give me a look like "really?" It still doesn't deter the dog. He knocks things over or jumps over them to get to the entrance to the litter robot. I'm considering a shock collar for the dog I'm so frustrated but you mentioned in your response to someone that you 'have one' for your litter robot and it works well. I'm wondering what this was that you referred to.
