Hi there!
I am seriously considering breeding Maine Coons. I want to stay small, ethical and family oriented. I will be building a heated mini barn with outdoor enclosure. I am hoping to only have one Tom to start out. My question is: can i keep him with a neutered male, or should I get 2 toms? I will be starting off with 2 quality queens (living in my home) and build up from there. Thanks I’m advance!

The easiest and safest, is to have a neutered male as company and pal. But sometimes two studs go nicely together too. One breeder I know had 3 studs, whom were pals... and accepted to wait their turns when ladies come. Accepted just one went in to the mating room, without trying to make trouble...

So if you do have two friendly toms and want to try; do so. But make sure you have a plan B...
A neutered companion pal is of course easier to find. You can simply take a moggie. As long you are entirely sure he is healthy (take tests for parasites too!).
