I posted about my kitty's illness yesterday after a solensia injection July 26. Anti nausea and appetite stimulate have her eating again after a hospital admission. She has few teeth(dis but has had no trouble swallowing greenies. Since she became sick she it trying to chew dry food and mostly spits it out now. The vet checked her jaw under sedation but said it could be internal. Has anyone experienced anything like this after a solensia injection?

Hi. I've read numerous posts on this site and I don't recall anything so specific like a jaw issue as a side effect from Solensia. I would imagine it is coincidental. If the jaw problem came up after the hospital admission, it could likely be tied to that - accidental manhandling or something she did to herself in the enclosure she was placed in. Does she eat wet food too? Can she handle it better? If so, feed her more wet food for now and watch over her to see if the jaw issue lessens over time. Are you basing her dry food eating issue to be from her jaw bothering her?

If the vet had her under sedation to check her jaw, I am surprised they didn't go one step further and take x-rays to see if that would have revealed anything.

Thanks for the response! I noticed the chewing problem after the first vet appt but I don't think they caused it. The ER doctors don't seem to want to do procedures that don't merit emergency action. They did the ultrasound however. Today I took her in to my regular vet about the jaw. they didn't want to sedate her or do x rays. Felt that there would be some indication of trauma and couldn't find anything. They did give me the pain killer I requested and it is helping her chew. Only have three days worth & am hoping it resolves on it own.
