My orange cat Duncan Idaho seems to be infatuated with water lately.

He jumps in the shower with me almost every morning. He does not seem have any of the natural desire to avoid water that cats usually have. He loves to play in the sink getting totally soaked and not seeming to mind a bit.

Does anyone else have a water cat? (note that my bath tub is not dirty, it was recoated several times and the coating is wearing off, I sort of like the patina)

My brigde boy Tik loved playing with water he used to drown his toy's and was always trying to get into the bath with me. My boy's now like it when it's hot because I put ice in their water bowls they like to knock it around.

Y'know! I think he's actually washing up in the sink!
He gets his paw wet then rubs it on his face. He's washing his face just like his human does! ;)

Years ago, we had a Van cat that liked water and would jump in the shower with you. At first, we were like, "No! No!" because we didn't realize that he actually liked it. After a few times we were like, "Well, okay. If that's what you want, go for it!" After that it was more like, "Hey! The cat's in the shower again!" ;)

At least, this way, you never have to worry about him getting enough water! ;) ;) ;)

Put down a waterproof mat or something.

If he likes water, let him splash! :)
He'll be the cleanest cat you ever had and you'll never have to give him a bath! Besides, most house cats don't drink enough water.

Just put down a mat and keep a small spot mop handy. It's just water. ;)

Adorable! I seem to recall another thread on here of a ”water cat” who managed to turn on a tap AND plug up the sink….while the owner was out. Perhaps something to ponder.

I have never had a water cat and I have always wanted one. He is adorable, a lovely ginger boy. 😀

The closest is Xena who likes to come in the bathroom when I shower but then he screeches to get out. I’m not sure why he does that😹 So, I have to tell him you’re not allowed to come in with me when I’m showering only when I’m using the sink or toilet, etc.

Years ago my first cat did use the sink, and the bathtub as a toilet though, and occasionally she was known to drink a little bit if there were drips at the tap.

If I can find the pictures, I'd happily show you - but both Milo AND Sammy love trying to take showers with me, drives me nuts lol.

Milo has even tried to jump IN the tub with me before. I've had to start barring him from the bathroom when I'm showering or bathing.

The other cats aren't big on water, but they don't mind IF I have to bathe them.

My dogs on the other hand act like i'm dipping them in an acid bath if they go near water.
