By way of introduction, I would tell you about my cats but that would end up being more of a book. I have a few, currently 9 plus a feral who is always here now. I live on 2 1/2 acres of rural ground, 1/2 mile from the Missouri river surrounded by farm fields and the cats help to keep me from being overrun by mice and such. I have some cats that are inside all the time, some that are outside all the time and most who come and go as they want. I have had a lot more than 9 at times. I have had people sometimes dump them off, or at least that is where I guess they came from. Some who wander in and stay for a while and some that are totally feral, as in wild, never been touched. Those are the real challenges. We don't have any feral colonies that I know of because the environment is to extreme for them to survive. To many predators, not enough food for the long winters. For a cat it is a harsh place to live without help.
