Is this the end? Advice needed…

Thank you for reading. My cat Gus is 13 and was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on his spleen 3 years ago. He has been stable on prednisone ever since. I’m the last few days he has had diarrhea all over the house and has been vomiting. Occasionally, he howls very loud and I have seen way more mats in his fur then I ever have (he’s VERY soft and fluffy) I’m afraid he isn’t grooming enough anymore. He is still eating and drinking and still wants all my attention.
My question is… do you think it’s the end? I promised him and myself that I would NEVER let him suffer for my own selfish need. He’s my best bud and I want to do what’s right. I just need some objective opinions. Thanks again

The best answer can only be given by the person who knows Gus the best...you.
You will notice his changes better than anyone. You'll know if he still seems like himself or if things are different.
Trust yourself. Trust Gus. He'll show you when he's ready and because you know and love him so deeply, you'll know when it's time.
