Is this hairball?

Hi guys, I’ve been fostering this cat for a few days now and she’s generally healthy (eating, drinking, sleeping just fine). Today however, when I came home after work I saw - please see pictures attached. I’m not sure what it is. It doesn’t smell like poop and the texture definitely isn’t like poop. A friend told me it’s hairball, do you guys think so too? The kitty is otherwise acting normal.

Hi. I think it is a hairball as well. A dab of butter/margarine on her paw or from your finger a couple of times a week should help with her passing hairballs in the future. If not that, you can put a couple of drops of olive oil in her food.

Yeah, it looks just like a hairball! I give my cats a dab of butter often to combat this. Butter has almost zero lactose so is alright. Many cats are allergic to milk products after they mature. There are also supplements, foods, and meds for this, but I have found it is hard to get my cats to take them. Brushing your cat as often as you can, for like a few minutes every day, would help get rid of the excess. Most hair passes through the digestive system, but when there is too much it builds up and this happens.
