Is my cat a regular DSH?

Yes, he is a DSH. I believe he is an orange striped tabby. Most orange cats are male & most orange cats are striped since the chromosome for orange & striped is the same.

 I was wondering about this, not really knowing.

I know all reds are always tabby.  But you are telling - they are mandatory striped tabbies?  Mackerel in american cat fancy usage?

IF so, it should mean, non striped red tabbies, alike  marbled or spotted, do have this gene for real, not because they are red but for real?
