I've seen a few complete foods stating how they are wheat free. My girl is currently on Purina One dry food at the moment but I'm thinking of changing over to something like Wainwrights (they are wheat free) x

Yes, cats are obligate carnivores, they aren’t made to eat wheat. It has no nutritional benefit for them and can cause stomach upset.

However, just because a food says “wheat free” doesn’t make it healthy.

Indeed! Pretty much any carby ingredients -- like potato, peas, and other legumes -- add empty calories to foods. It's meat that cats need to eat, not high-calorie vegetables.
