Hi everyone, I write in this forum to understand which family my simba belongs to, almost two years old, Also to understand if weight is normal since it does not seem obese to me. Attached some pics. Simba was given to me as a cross between an European cat and a bengal. It doesn't look like it's a bengal to me, but the weight is over 7 kg now And even though he eats a lot, he's very agile and slender in movement. I don't have any pictures of parents or grandparents. Thank you all in advance. He doesn’t look like a Bengal to me either but I am most certainly not an expert. Such a handsome boy though.

I don't see any features in him that are specific to Bengals. He's a gorgeous mackerel tabby with white DSH (Domestic Shorthair).

That's what I thought, but I can't understand why this breed usually weighs around 12lb while mine weighs about 16lb. It's probably normal, does the cat look overweight from the photos for you all? As I have already written to me it seems very agile in movements. Even the needs in the litter are of absurd size, like a medium size dog 😂. Thank you again!

Domestics aren't a breed, cats can vary pretty widely in size and appearance, a 6 pound cat is normal, a 20 pound cat can also be normal. Bengals were made with ALC which are actually pretty small wild cats, I'm not sure why it's become common for people to think Bengals are abnormally large. Your kitty doesn't look overweight but those pics aren't good to tell, does he have a stomach tuck visible from the side and above? Can you easily feel his ribs with little pressure? If so he's fine, if not, he's a little fat.

I have 6 DSH and one DLH who range in weight from 6# to 15#. They are all normal healthy weight. Well, except for Miss Patchwillow, who could stand to lose a bit of her roundness. ;) I also have 2 abyssinians (male & female) who are both on the small end of the range for the breed, again perfectly normal.
